  1. I have the CH pro pedals - and they work great. I've had them about a year, no problems. I agree with some of the others here that say they are a bit narrow, but I have no problem using them at all. The only time they really got to be annoying is when I was using the warthog center-mounted.
  2. As the others suggest - stay with it! Personally, I took to it without any issues at all, it felt incredibly natural. I can't imagine flying without it!
  3. Wow - that's a great idea! I am going to have to try that out. One concern I have is that in one of his pictures it looks like the joystick might lean forward rather than be straight up like it should. You should post some pictures when you get it setup!
  4. Hey - I used a stick extension for my warthog for awhile and also did not have a good mount at first. I already had a simple "pit" using pvc piping (it holds a side-stick, throttle, and pedals). I used a plan from roger doger aviation (I think). To use the warthog, I simply built a center stand using PVC pipes, a few pieces of wood, and some velcro to stick the warthog on it when needed. I added connection from the center mount to the pvc pit to keep it in place when in use. It worked pretty darn well. I decided to use my warthog as a side stick for now, so now this center mount is a good foot rest, or holds random items when I'm out of desk space :). Anyway, just an idea. If it could help I could send some pictures. In any case, good luck on making/finding a center mount! Also - the stick extension was very awesome. I did about a 4 inch extension (home made) because that's how long it needed to be with my center stand. I had the stick base as far up and as close to my chair as I could, with the large base plate going just under the chair. I would highly suggest just buying the stick extension - it was a bit frustrating to build my own, and I don't think it was perfectly straight ;), and I like that he already has plugs setup. When I go back to using center mount I'll definitely get one.
  5. Ok - so if you take a wire and cut a length of it out (to shorten it), you can solder the wires together, and then ... most "how to" sites on the internet suggest heat shrink tubing at this point. Is this the best for these small gauge wires? Would electrical tape work? -Tallon
  6. Yeah - ran across that one too :). I've run across a few places that sell male to female 5-pin mini din cables, but they are 8 feet long or more, or they are just the connectors. So - now I'm trying to figure out how the heck to shorten a wire. I did pick up a soldering iron and I'm about to cut open an old ps/2 cable to see what it looks like, but I'm trying to see if I can find some pictures or something online to see what this will be like to shorten the cord and reattach it to the connector - never done anything like this before (see what flight sims make a person do? lol) *edit* Hah... I take my old ps/2 cable, cut it in half, and my daughter looks at me and says "You broke it!" (she's only 3). */edit* -Tallon
  7. So, I'm going to try and find the actual cable. If anyone has an idea on the actual name of the cord/cable, it'd be appreciated. Right now I'm just browsing around on mouser & digikeys and trying to get lucky, lol. *edit* so it looks like the cord is a 5-pin MiniDIN cord. */edit* -Tallon
  8. Thanks for the help guys. Somehow i missed the page where this was discussed. Since i have a ps2 cable at home I'll try that out first. I didn't think about drilling the hole on the female cable connector. Very simple and effective! -Tallon
  9. Should the joystick connect to the ps2 cable with its center tab intact? I did try the plugging the ps2 into the base and the center tab broke, which is why i decided to ask and make sure i was on the right track. Glad to know i am! Thanks! Tallon
  10. Hello - As the title says, what cable should I get to extend the stick? I have the garden hose connectors ordered to start the extension process, but something I've never seen anyone talk about is the specific cable to use to connect the joystick to the base. Any help would be appreciated! I did try to get a ps/2 connector (the only kind I could find at fry's electronics - ps/2 6pin male to female), which won't fit without possibly breaking off the center plastic piece in the joystick's connection. This must be a newb question, because I haven't seen it asked anywhere else - but I'm new to this modding stuff ;). -Tallon
