  1. More realism by creating object-specific damage modelling, e.g. for Trains (locomotives) jets of white steam preceding boiler bursts. For Ships, Bow or stern rising up, ship rolling as it sinks. For airborne Planes, the ability to set a trigger action for smoke emission as result of damage, rather than just a sudden explosion. WW2 Gun Cam footage shows that strikes from aerial machine guns or cannon most often cause smoke and /or fire before an aircraft's total destruction. A smoke emission action would also be useful applied to other moving objects. More static objects. We have been using the same old objects for years now and although external mods are good, they can cause problems as DCS updates. We need more modern (and WW2) unarmed figures in various postures, ideally making small movements (like some of the carrier personnel now available). Also, why not include the various in-game vehicles and other object as placeable in M.E? They already exist, so how difficult can it be to make them placeable for us?
  2. E.D. may regard the problems reported above as minor and not worthy of their attention, but they really need to address defects like this which seriously detract from the reality of the sim. Here are a few old examples relating to trains: 1. Locomotives in Normandy 2 seem to remain completely undamaged by .50 cal rounds, no matter how many hits. This is unrealistic. Many WW2 aerial Gun Cam shots show steam locos being damaged and stopped by this ammo. A specific damage model should be developed for Locos; e.g. showing them leaking high pressure steam, and rolling to a stop 2. As reported many times, AI trains will not stop at destroyed rail bridges - they just happily chuff on over the gap in the demolished bridge. This is laughable, ridiculous and a real immersion breaker. 3. The old problem of AI trains created in M.E. neither obeying set speeds, nor stopping and remaining at their terminal waypoint, or obeying other waypoint commands, still exists, despite being reported multiple times over the past several years. In a simulation ( by definition) realism is the major objective. I have no doubt that DCS has achieved it over 90% of the sim. but ED is ignoring old, reported problems which can be corrected. DCS needs to be realistic in all respects, otherwise the player's immersion in an otherwise good sim is broken. Attention to detail is needed.
  3. I would like to present E.D. with sensible ideas to add to or improve M.E. triggering. If you have suggestions, please state them clearly and give an example of how they would work: E.g. 1: Conditions able to trigger multiple actions at specified intervals without needing the repetition of multiple Flags. Example: Condition:Enemy ground target "A" receives hits. Action 1: Target "A" explodes. Action 2: 10 seconds later Target "B" emits smoke and fire. Action 3: 15 seconds later. Target "C" emits smoke E.g. 2: Add an Action to allow aircraft and moving ground or sea targets to trail smoke upon being damaged with a choice of light or heavy smoke intensity. Example: Condition: Enemy aircraft receives 15 hits. Action one : Emits light smoke from area of strikes. Action two: 5 seconds later explodes. Looking forward to reading your ideas and comments. Regards,Mich
  4. I fully agree with all above - This feature would vastly improve mission making and save heaps of time. Peter
  5. Hi razo+r, Thanks so much for your advice and help. I removed the enemy from the airport sphere and now have proper ground crew responses, and can start the aircraft properly. I would never have thought of that, and so I thank you again. Best regards, Myself.
  6. Thanks razo+r - Will try tonight and let you know how it goes. M.
  7. OK - Will do as you say. Mosquito Non-Start.trk attached. Mosquito Non-start.trk
  8. Hi razo+r, Attaching non-start track. Confirming checked Electrical Power, Bomb doors & control switches, Gear and Bombay locks, Brake pressure, Fuel selectors to outer tanks, Fuel pressure vents lever up, Throttles cracked, RPM lever full fine, Mixture rich, Filters all closed, Submerged fuel pump Off, so video starts with opening L. window to call for priming. Hope this helps. Mosquito non start.mp4
  9. Hi razo+r, and thanks for your reply. Yes, I am an allied pilot and flying from an allied airfield. I can attach a track, but all it shows is the correct procedure set out by Grim Reapers, and Chuck's guide. I think the problem may be not getting confirmation from ground crew when calling for priming. When I open left window and call ground crew, then press F8 and then F6, I hear myself calling for "start" but ground crew doesn't respond, so I'm wondering if there's no priming occurring. Regards
  10. Recently I have been unable to manually start the Mosquito. I have followed the Grim Reapers tutorial to the letter, and it all seems OK until I actually crank the first engine. Then it just turns over without firing. I have noticed that when I open the Left window and call for starter, my ground crew will not respond. Can anyone help? Regards, Mich.
  11. How wonderful it would be if we could get E.D. to focus on giving Mission Editor a really significant makeover. For those of us who love building and flying our own missions, the menu of objects is frustratingly limited, with just a few desultory additions every year. I think E.D. underestimates the pleasure which mission building can bring. My following Wish List is not all original; many of these items have been requested several times in these forums, and I believe none of the items is difficult for E.D's scenery team to achieve. If we mission builders continue to make reasonable and realistic requests, perhaps E.D. will give attention to some new features to help us. STATIC OBJECTS: Altitude variation, both up&down: In some scenery editors, the altitude of objects can be altered, and they can even be tilted. These functions can be used to great effect in realistic placement of items in a landscape. E.D's Static objects lack these : Place a FARP tent on sloping ground and one end will be up in the air. Place a soldier on a roof, and he stays there until the building is demolished, then you will see him lying dead 30 feet above the ground. More placeable everyday objects are needed: e.g. Connectable (say 5 metre) lengths of walls & fencing, Civilian and unarmed military people in various postures, e.g. Standing, squatting, seated on chair. Several such people in a group (like the "airshow crowd" object, but with fewer people. Groups of clutter, e.g. kitbags, boxes, outdoor table & chairs, More good quality civilian vehicles (cars, trucks and motor cycles) especially WW2 era, a variety of small trees, bushes and shrubs suitable for the various maps - (e.g. Pines for Europe, Palms for Syria and Marianas), more animals - ( e.g. dogs, sheep, horses). Placeable lengths of jetties and wharves to create ports and D-day Mulberry installations. More water craft such as small fishing boats and canal barges placeable on rivers. Nominal Movement: Animals and people should be given minor movement like the Carrier Personnel who can move their arms, bodies and heads slightly. Even re-skinning these in civilian (including WW2) clothing would be a big improvement. OTHER IMPROVEMENTS: Trigger Conditions should include a general "Projectile In Zone" (i.e. all in one Bomb / Rocket / Missile / Bullet-in-zone). Bomb fuse delay period - Should be more selectable, not fixed. e.g. 1 to 20 seconds. Seeing Objects in situ without starting mission - Enable mission builders to go straight into the scenery to check progress without having to start mission each time. All reasonable comments & suggestions welcome. Mich.
  12. Trying to download some UAZ-452 vans, but can't find link to download the above mod. Can anyone help please? Peter
  13. I agree. The Hercules and the C-47 would give us a transport in both the modern and WW2 eras. The work that ED is doing on the Mosquito should assist in building the C-47. It is an iconic twin that played a vital role in Europe and the Pacific and so should be included in DCS. Let's hope.
  14. ..." but I hope not much longer...." . Not very specific - We all hope. We shall wait and see. M.
  15. Hi Silver_Dragon, Does that mean that we are getting Delayed Det. bombs? Please elucidate. M
