  • At the moment AFAIK voice chat isn't actually integrated with the aircraft radios, it's essentially like using teamspeak or equivalent, just within the DCS client, so the ADF not working is to be expected.

It is being worked on, and I imagine this feature will come once voice chat gets...

  • Okay, so long as they're the same version/build, I don't see why the saved games should be overwritten, in any case, best practice is to go into your saved games via the path described above and make a copy of the logbook.lua

Hopefully it all worked out ...

Even if that were the case, they still have absolutely nothing peer to fight, nor will they have anything peer to fight for the foreseeable future......

  • Navigate to Your personal folder -> Saved games -> DCS Open Beta (might be called something else for the OB build, I know the stable build is just DCS) -> MissionEditor and the file you're looking to copy is called logbook.lua

If you want to copy it to your stable build, you need...

To be honest, when we only have 4 long-range/EW RADARs, of which 1 is non-functional eye-candy with no control over placement, another is the commonly associated acquisition RADAR of the SA-3 system, and the other 2 are 80s RADARs in dire need of a major graphical overhaul, I'm not surprised the GCI...

You're right, it is there on the Denim and Dark themes, just not the default one, seems odd...

As for like, it's in the bottom right of posts, next to flag and quote.

One thing that's bothering me at the moment, is that multiquote seems to have gone, and trying to quote...

Probably not going to happen for probably the next few decades.

And besides what are they going to fight? The majority of assets peak before the 90s, save for the GREENFOR JF-17, 2-3 tanks, and a few Chinese ships... Personally I'd be more interested in aircraft from the 60s - early 90...

  • In a vacuum I'd go for the F-15A/C, but I'd prefer a mid-to-late Cold War variant than a modern one.

But given the RED/BLUE disparity with full-fidelity aircraft, I'm going to go with the Su-27S, even if it is the first production variant (it's my perfect era in any case).

  • In the Mission Editor, speeds are done by ground speed, as in the actual speed the tanker is moving across the ground. The status bar will either give you IAS or TAS.

IAS measures the speed relative to the air mass the aircraft is moving in. However, it doesn't compensate for decreasing...

Fine, AFAIK, it's the first major upgrade, still very much a Soviet era aircraft, the FC3 one essentially is identical to the baseline MiG-29, just the addition of R-77 on 4 pylons (AFAIK). But then, is a MiG-29S feasible from a documentation/licensing perspective?

    And yet...

Except the B-52H can carry cruise missiles, so no...

And the difference between the MiG-29 and F-14 is absolutely not the same as the MiG-29 and a B-52...

Then again, the B we have is from the early 90s, what about the F-14A?

    It's basically...

Yeah, I feel like I could get used to it, it does seem we've gone back in time a bit with the design.

Personally, I feel like the older design was a lot more functional. Also looks like the signatures have all disappeared...

Even if that was the case, it still remains an option when peer aircraft are unavailable.

I never said they're completely balanced, no peer aircraft is, but they do fit each other, as in they occupy the same era.

The Tomcat does have a significant edge in BVR,...

    Yeah, no...

How many times? The overwhelming majority of DCS assets are mid-to-late Cold War - 1970s to 1990s. The modern BLUFOR modules are the odd ones out, brilliant for modern IRL scenarios against non-peer opponents, but otherwise a little out of place.

    The most practical...
