    4) When I perturb the aircraft from straight & level by pulling the yoke and then returning it to neutral, the aircraft stays at the new AoA and Pitch, not showing any negative pitch moment tendency ? When I do the opposite, push the yoke, there is a slight noticeable pitch up moment when I release the yoke though, Why is this like so? It appears as if the P-51 has a Fly By Wire system :-)

    5) Shouldn't the drag from extending the landing gear show a much more pronnounced ASI drop? It's mainly pitch down that results, but the aircraft ends up gaining speed.

All of my tests are performed with the fuselage fuel tank EMPTY!

Sorry for contacting you through this private message, but I am really trying to learn this sim / aircraft, and am having some serious difficulties understanding why it sometimes behaves so differently from what I expected...

    2) Today I posted about the manual saying the aircraft can't sustain sideslip because of lack of aileron authority. I find the aileron authority quite pronnounced as a mater of fact. I can use full rudder to one of the sides and then perform a tonneau if I give full opposite aileron (?). Also I recorded 2 tracks, attached to those messages, and in one I perform an approach in sideslip with no problem (?)

    3) Is a rudder turn so slow in the real thing? If I try to turn wings level only with full rudder, using opposite aileron to mantain the wings level, the aircraft flies almost straight, or shows just a slight hint of yaw rate (?)

    Hi Yo-Yo,

I am continuing to enjoy DCS p-51, although finding many aspects different of what my mental idea of how a p-51 would perform is created in my mind :-)

I still find the phugoids very weird.

    1) It is rather difficult to get the aircraft into straight & level flight. It is allways running away from stable flight, trying to start a climb or a descent, and I have to keep triming all the time, but from some more or less stable situations when I make pitch inputs (up / down) and return to neutral after I see the ASI starting to (decrease / increase), and then wait for the return to the original state (at least to the original trimed speed), it takes so long, and particularly when it pitches down to catch speed after going up in one of the cycles, it tends to continue descending and gaining speed for so long, that returning to the initial state almost looks as it will take forever (???)
