Hey Steve. Read your post. Glad to hear you found a place to live.

I just emailed the 3D artist back. Its been about 15 days since I have heard from him. We were trying to see if he could get the correct software to export in an EDM file. The 3D software he uses now will not do that.

I really hope this guy works out. Seems to have a lot of experience and does great models.

I am also experimenting with Photogrammetry for the exterior/interior of the tank module. After taking the photos and generating the model, I could send that to the artist I am talking to to generate an amazing looking tank. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEsRcFQ1_H8[/ame]

The man I told you about who does the 3D tank models contacted me. He seems interested. He wants to know what software they use for the 3D models and anything that would aid him in starting something.

I would assume many of the devs use 3DSMAX but not a 100% on that one. I figured you working with VEAO, you might have an insight on what software he needs to use to get started.

I talk with my friend tomorrow who is the programmer. I am going to run the whole thing by him and see if he has enough spare time to get involved.

I am going to post a new board on the forum to see if any other devs respond. I will not spill the beans on anything. Look forward to hearing back from you.

I emailed the 3D artist I told you about in the last post. I am waiting to hear back from him. If he is interested, we have a really good shot at putting together a nice looking module. I will let you know when I hear back from him.

I think I might have found our 3D guy. I have not contacted him yet but it appears he LOVES doing 3D WW2 armor and does a damn good job. Check this link out.

Also I think crowd funding would be awesome. What do you think about kickstarter? I live in texas and have access to this also, so recording sounds and getting the details right wont be a problem.

You have to love the Texas at times when we can drive tanks around on our property. LOL Let me know what you think. I will contact this guy and see if he is interested.

    Hey Mate,

All good my friend, Yeah still at Veao. just waiting on my next project.

That would be cool if you could talk to him, See what he says and thinkd about the project.

whats you thoughts about crowd funding??

Maybe we could put together a good enough presentation to pull it off.

Then all we would need is a good enough model maker to make a few exterior and interior pics and a little vid of some gauges moving, and switches , switching . that sort of thing.

And for a 3d guy to bash something out like that should not be to tricky or time consuming.

I dont know what do you think ???

It no big deal my friend. my email is robert.clark251@yahoo.com.

We can continue to correspond via this private board though. It is easier to go back and look at what we have talked about.

Are you still working with VEAO? If I remember correctly you were doing something for them in the past. I will talk to my friend this coming Monday. The man has programmed before and I believe knows something about 3D software. I will see what he has to say.

I really want to pursue this endeavor. I know there are interested tank simmers out there waiting for this day to come. I get very excited thinking about the possibilities.

I will post again soon. Keep your eyes on this board weekly. I will try to do a better job staying in touch. Also bear in mind I understand the position you are in and how hard it might be at this point to work on a side project like this right now. If you are busy with life, I totally understand.

    Hi Robert,

Mate So sorry for not coming back to you sooner.

Well were do i begin??? I have been full on with my house sale which has now sold. looking for a place to live (rent) that will be happy with my little dog. then the next mission is trying to split the proceeds from the house sale even and fairly, which i have a suspicion that she will make it difficult. And on top of that trying to lock down a full time job. Just working at the mo with a good mate of mine who has taken me on as a hammer hand building houses.. which is fine and has been good for me lost a bit of weight ..haha . but I am still really keen to get something of the ground. I have had no luck with a modeler but in saying that real life has taken my time for the moment.

This is Robert. I was wondering if anything more had been mentioned about a DCS tank module. I am volunteering at a Vintage Flight Museum and one of the guys there is a programmer. He is very much into aircraft and I would assume armor as well. I am still very interested in bringing a Sherman to DCS and kicking off a new area of interest with the modules. I think with the new 2.0 engine coming out and the WW2 map, I would hope we could get some renewed interest in the topic. Like I said before, I think I could gain access to a large amount of information on the tanks. We have an armor museum here in Texas that I am sure would be willing to help. Let me know if you are still interested and I will talk with my friend to see what we can come up with.

And I will also post a new forum on the board for the Museum I work at. They have some great stuff there.
