eatthis
i know virtually nothing about ram overclocking, i have 32 gb of 3000mhz running xmp settings il be upgrading the pc soon and looking at these Patriot Memory Viper Steel Series DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 4400MHz Performance Memory Kit PVS416G440C9K 2 sets of those. is speed or low timings more important for dcs vr and wheres the sweetspot? 7700k @5ghz, 32gb 3200mhz ram, 2080ti, nvme drives, valve index vr
Taz1004
It depends. DDR4 3200 with CAS Latency of 14 is faster than DDR4 3600 with CAS Latency of 16. Yet the former will be cheaper. You really have to look up the benchmark and reviews. And you'll want 32GB for VR. I don't think there's sweetspot. Faster is always better. Thinder
AMD cpus respond differently than intel to ram timings. Which cpu do you have? Sweet spot for Ryzen 5 3600X is DDR4 3600/CAS latency - 16, I chose the 3200 to replace my old RAM in emergency but I might correct this when I got the funds after the HP Reverb G2. After reseaches I looks like this kit is the most performant. https://uk.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g36c16u4b ...... Win 11Pro. Corsair RM1000X PSU. Bossco82
I don't know if you would run into any problems using 4400mhz with that Patriot kit on an AMD system. However I found someone using that kit at 3600mhz speeds at C14 timings so it would be very fast dram. We would know more when the AMD 5000 series are released. Just remember these kits always say "up to" 4400mhz. I would say anything around 3600mhz and c14 would be a very nice sweet spot. I use 2x16gb 3200mhz C16 dram with an AMD 3600 and I dont have any problems with performance in DCS using 4K or VR
