Herastean
Hey there. Been using the autostart since my RIO isn't familiar with startup procedures. Thing is that when JESTER does the startup, my heading seems to be off by atleast 20 degrees. Is it only since the last patch? Also, I'm starting from an aircraft carrier. Thanks for the input. Edit : If I set up a TACAN beacon, the alignment seems to be figuring itself out, so its a fix... But no idea if that's still normal or not. Tholozor
This is an intentional feature. The aircraft carrier has a large electro-magnetic environment from the size of the superstructure and all the electronics on board. This will affect the magnetic compass inside the aircraft, and should correct itself not long after takeoff. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=238390 REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/
Spiceman
To tag on to that answer, since the title mentions alignment, errors in magnetic heading have no bearing on the INS alignment. The INS is completely unaware of any magnetic information and works only with true headings. There is no direct interaction between the magnetic compass system (AHRS) and the INS. There is an indirect interaction through the use of Magnetic Variation which is used to convert target true heading/course information from the INS into magnetic heading/course information to display on the TID.
