very usefull :megalol: seriously don't tell me is not a gamebreaking bug… it's impossible to target Something near a "burning" area.

Please ED do Something… thanks

Yeah, for me this bug just comes and goes. Yesterday when I first tried the TGP all worked well. Today it's broken again. And been like that for several months.

Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil T-50CM, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro

Smoke rendering in IR from explosions/rocket motors/etc

The smoke image while in FLIR on the new F-18 TPOD and either white or black hot is way over saturated, making the explosions just blobs of bright white (or black) rather than a realistic looking FLIR image. I understand that the FLIR rendering is being actively worked on, but why does this not occur to some people? I see over saturated blobs that look horrible while others see properly shaded explosions. I borrowed a couple of images a poster on reddit (u/goodman_od) shared. Is this being tracked and actively worked on?

It comes and goes for me as well. Worked well for a day, after the last OB patch and then it's all blobs again.

I've been messing around with settings for last few days and somehow fixed this issue for me. Still not sure what exactly did the fix (since i tried a lot of stuff), but I'll try to find out and share with you guys.

Would very much appreciate it!

So i did try different settings today and noticed some pattern with game settings.

I made my self a test mission where Abrams destroying Btr-80 right from the start, and i start in A-10C watching all these explosions with a tpod.

Notice that today i started with good looking smoke, since i had it fixed few days ago.

1. Start this mission and see good kind of smoke and explosions → http://ipic.su/aCD7h.jpg

2. Quit mission, go to settings

3. Set "Chimney Smoke Density" to 2 (didn't try it with different values other than 0 and 2)

4. Exit DCS

5. Delete folders fxo and metashaders2 in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS

6. Start DCS, load test mission

7. See bad kind of smoke and explosions → http://ipic.su/aCD72.jpg

8. Quit mission, go to settings

9. Set "Chimney Smoke Density" to 0

10. Exit DCS

11. Delete folders fxo and metashaders2 in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS

12. Start DCS, load test mission

13. Enjoying good flir again :joystick:

I reproduced all sequence 2 times just to be sure it works that way.

My final settings → http://ipic.su/aCD6s.jpg

Can someone try with other value for chimney smoke density ? Mine is set to 5, would be sad to turn it totally off.

Hi,

I've tried your solution and it smell good … I'll see after several flights but I've tried 4 times and the 4 times I have a pretty good image rendering  Initially I have 2 on smoke density, and now I've try with 5 (a friend has this setting and has no bug) and it seems ok.

Well done!! you're my new Hero of the Day :megalol::smartass::pilotfly:

TGP Contrast Issue

Hello,

I have an issue with the Hornet TGP in FLIR mode.

Every time there is an explosion/smoke in an area, my FLIR colours go crazy. Screenshots included.

Any ideas why this happens and how I can stop it?

Thanks, Félix :)
