A-10c II views

Do HOTAS users use the keyboard to access the many outside views available in DCS A-10c II? Due to the fact DCS A-10c II needs a HOTAS type system, using long and short for most of the TMS through DMS commands which leaves little room for views. I am curious as to where do most of you squeeze in the views or do you stick mostly in cockpit with IR5 on your ball cap and don't use flyby or other available outside views?

I use the F keys for my views outside the cockpit.

I hardly ever go outside the plane. It's very unrealistic. When I do I just use the keyboard. I wouldn't waste a button on the HOTAS for it.

I also have my function keys bound to VoiceAttack. Works well for the rare time I want an external view. (Normally only when I am supersonic in the Hornet and want the flyby with a sonic boom.)

I tried that once with my headphones turned up. It got my bum ear ringing a tune to me. I won't do that again. It sounded like a cannon.

I use the joy lever (BTN4) as a modifier.

BTN4 + DMS Up --> F1 view

 

BTN4 + DMS Right --> F2 view

 

BTN4 + DMS Down --> F3 view

Just go to Options - Audio and lower the "World" slider to about 30%.

I always wondered about that setting. Is it just for what you hear when outside of the cockpit or also what you hear in the cockpit?

I think it doesn´t affect cockpit sounds.
