Hey guys ripped the crap out of my throttle pinky switch while stepping in my pit the other day

Anyone knows where i could find the exact same switch to replace it? I emailed TM but no response so far...

Thanks

you can purchase a mil spec switch for that price or less off of eBay. you can probably find some thing that will fit the hole and the switch lay out at your local hardware or electronics supplyer

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Yes, a miniature On-Off-On switch. You can pick them up from most electrical specialists for next to nothing at all. I have 4, because the postage was as much as the switch, so I thought I'd keep a stock in case it goes again.

Just a matter of undoing 2 screws, snipping and re-soldering 2 wires, and it is good to go in moments. They even had the foresight to leave plenty of slack in the cable, so access for soldering is easy too - just don't burn your carpet by dropping the soldering iron - apparently wives don't like that kind of thing after they just had all the carpets cleaned! - I never could understand women - go figure!

Not a standard mini toggle. They have a 6mm hole and have a small throw and actuating stroke.

The pinky switch body is like a mini toggle but the mounting is full size. Something like small profile 12mm toggle switch

I'll pull it out and measure later today. Looking for something that requires more force to move than the stock

A replacement Pinky Switch of higher quality and a replacement slew button that operates like the real world A10 slew control would be a nice upgrade package including a pdf with illustrations of the disassembly/reassembly. That would make the throttle just about perfect in my book. I imagine whoever were to put that together could also make a few dollars.

NO If some one did that and wanted to make a buck or two they would get a ton of shit lectured on sharing to the open community or some one would let you know they can make 10,000 of them in a month at a responsible price and you would never see any thing. Best thing is to just figure it out some how with a few other builders .:smilewink:

For someone who started his project of product only, with all the measurements necessary, way before mine and does not have a finished prototype yet, you're are in no position to criticize on the timeline.

I have to design and manufacture my own machinery plus electronics and firmware, in addition to the product itself. And I already have several functioning machines and a finished prototype of the product. Can you show me your mfcd's, glare shields etc??

-wrong Chinese replacement, 6mm hole tiny pole. But if you pull out the pole from your busted switch and hammer it onto this one, and use large washers you could mount this one too

@hegykc: first one looks good, however.. to the Netherlands the shipping rate is $30,-....... In that case shipping the original switch including the side/mounting plastic from TM is even cheaper..

Prototypes of what?

I have all ready sold several runs of different Items Covers, Replica Knobs and Replica handles. I have never set a time line on a completed product.

I currently have the A-10 replica cockpit being build by several people they will all so make the instructions for the build witch makes a great deal of sense do to the fact I have a cockpit all ready that fills my shop.

As soon as they have their build done with out the need for CNC routers 3D printers or laser engravers the plans will be made available for the home builder.

This has take longer than expected do to real life and all of its basic functions of births death sickness and events of loved ones

I have offered several runs of other item do to the lack of demand and the fact that I work two jobs as well. They have not take off.

It is not cost effective to make one or two copies of an item as you should well know. There for I have not wasted my time. I do enjoy seeing my wife .

I was going to publish a book on the A-10C cockpit (that I had spent a huge amount of time on) do to to flagrant plagiarism of several people of other information I had posted I have dropped the Idea .

I have not advertised MFCD for sale not sure where you got that idea I would like to have a set made for my self.

The company that cuts and folds Aluminum professionally has the 3D models of the left right counsels, center pedestal, glare shield and several other item. When they are proofed by their engineer and ready for production and I receive quotes for the items I will post the costs for the Aluminum Items.

Since I am not actual making any of the items and have no investment in to tools material or any thing else I will offer a run I don't care if two people order or 10.000 it will fulfill a promise i have made.

If you want to see one please order as any one else.

I do have a reputation of selling extremely high quality replica products.

I as any other professional parts maker /supplier is open to criticism on the forms.

My be I should cut you some slack until you become a professional I.E you sell some thing .

Back on topic stay away from the cheep Chinese switches they suck spend the extra dollar or two and get some thing of quality that will last.

i'm very curious what incidents are you referring to with this.

ADD:

plagiarism - passing someone else's work as your own, using another's work without crediting the source. This is a serious acusation you made, and can't think of an instance when your work was plagiarized here. Not only since around March-April when you announced "in couple of weeks" timeline, but in several years I've been reading this forum.

Oh I guess you researched making custom sized lcd's, custom electronics and mfcd models to make your own two pieces, yeah right :)

So I should just shift my focus on printing some clear knobs, or handles with no electronics or mechanics, sell a few pieces and that would make me more of a professional in your view, than developing cutting edge machinery to make replica hotas :megalol:

Cause I can make that excuse too you know, and a lot cheaper and with a lot less effort.

"Hey guys I can produce 5 grips a day without making my own machinery, no electronics, not pre-drilled nor painted and you have to do your own mounting solution, and they'll be 300$ a piece... oh there's no interest?? Too bad, not my fault, scrapped". And then criticize someone taking on a poject like mine.

We all have a life beside this so that's no excuse either, especially if you're gonna criticize others for their life getting in the way.

I am well aware that you're making quality castings and I respect that, but you should get off your high horse and not compare and criticize someone doing a project that is not even comparable in terms of complexity and investment.

For all my items I can go to a professional company too, and offer you guys products that are several times more expensive and it would not cost me a dime and would be done in a month or two, maybe I should cause apparently that would make me more of a professional. And after low or no interest due to high price/low quantities I could make all of your excuses too.

I've taken a much harder and longer road. Criticizing my timeline is a very cheap shot coming from someone with a longer timeline, with a project which plan is to outsource all the actual work

  • 3 months later...

Found this switch on Conrad.be (should be similar for .nl)

http://www.conrad.be/ce/nl/product/700533/MS-550A-B-Tuimelschakelaar-250-VAC-15-A-1x-aanaan-vergrendelend-1-stuks

Spec pdf shows 13mm x 8mm

Can't seem to find measurement of the bolt

http://www.produktinfo.conrad.com/datenblaetter/700000-724999/700533-da-01-en-Kippschalter_1XUM.pdf

My question here is how can you safely remove the old switch from the throttle ? Preferably without breaking any plastic molding ?
