lrdangel
Hello, I just finished installing DCS World 1.2.1 and when I launched it, the auto updater kicked in. Looking at the logs I noticed my version of DCS World went from Current version: 1.2.1.5970.2711100000.002 to Latest version: 1.2.1.5970.2715200012.982. An every so slight change in versions but I can not find what exactly was updated. EDIT: I just finished installing the A10, BS2 and CA modules and I received another auto update: Went from Current version: 1.2.1.5970.2715200012.982 to Current version: 1.2.1.6055.2737600000.001 Would anyone know what the auto updater was patching? Any details? Thank you, ~ LA Edited October 2, 2012 by lrdangel ~ LA [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel Core Haswell i5-4670K OC @ 4.2GHz | Asus Z87-Plus mobo | 16GB DDR3 @ 1600 Ram | Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 OC w/ 8GB memory | Oculus Rift w/ Touch Controllers | 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD | Thrustmaster MFD Cougar pack | Thrustmaster HOTAS WARTHOG |Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals | TrackIR 4 Clip | Helios Black Knights Squadron Member

Leto
1.2.1 6055 released Autoupdater just brought me 1.2.1 6055 after I deleted my user/savedgames/dcs folder. Most likely that is not necessary to get the update, but for DCS is checking just once a day automatically you might want to check manually for an update. aaron886
Interesting! I've started the game and received no update yet. I just realized this is because I'm still using the old icons on my desktop... they point to Launcher.exe, but they should point to DCS_updater.exe. Check your singleplayer icon, the "Target" line needs to read: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" Once again, Update information can be found in [saved games]/DCS/Logs/autoupdate.log Edited October 2, 2012 by aaron886
cichlidfan
Interesting! I've started the game and received no update yet. Solution? Run /bin/DCS_updater.exe. What about that is automatic? I know where to look, I want to know what it is before I install it (which is a flaw in the system). Corrigan
I agree, letting people see the logs before updating is good form. Mike Busutil
Should or will the updater prompt with the option to download the latest update when available or will we have to randomly check for updates? ED Team c0ff Posted October 2, 2012 ED Team Share Posted October 2, 2012 Currently, DCS_updater.exe checks for updates once per day. When checking is not needed, the version is up to date or user refused to update it just runs the game as usual. To force a check, use "Update DCS" in your Start menu. Dmitry S. Rhinox
But can I decide if I want to update *now* or later? Or is it simply completely automatic? I do not want DCS starts pulling updates right when I'm online-playing... BTW, no update for me, still 5970. How are we supposed to play? With mixed versions? ED Team c0ff Posted October 2, 2012 ED Team Share Posted October 2, 2012 Admin rights are requested by the dcs_update_apply.exe program, which is run after successful download of updates. If you cancel download, the files which already downloaded are kept in the temp directory, so you can continue downloading any time. Temp files are removed after successful application of update or if you start a download and these files are not needed anymore. So, normally you don't need to think about that temp files. Dmitry S.
