DCS World - BS2 Module - Cockpit instruments blurry

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm having problems with blurry cockpit instruments / text in BS2 v1.2 module

I recently downloaded the new 'DCS World' interface.

Deleted my old version of BS2 (upgrade), but left my BS original installed (as suggested). I did the same for my old standalone A10 too.

Downloaded and installed both V1.2 modules for A10 V1.2 and the BS2 (upgrade) V1.2.

Both installed ok. I then uninstalled BS1.

After starting up DCS world - both modules are installed correctly and can be played.

I tried the BS2 in instant action - but the cockpit instruments and text seem very blurry compared to the previous 'standalone' version BS2.

The A-10 module cockpit is clearer, but still not as clear as the old 'standalone' one.

1920x1200 Graphics 16:10 Ratio - Vsync on

I have all graphics set to high - cockpits instruments to 1024 every frame. MSAA set x8 - HDR off

I have a powerfull PC W7 64bit

intel 2700-K @ 4.7Ghz

16GB RAM

Sapphire Radeon HD5890 OC @ 960 / 1260

I haven't tried altering the MSAA settings yet.

Any ideas?

Check MLAA is not enabled:

In driver CCC :

- AF:16x

- AA: controlled by applications ( uncheck MLAA ( Morphological AA ))

- Mipmap: high quality

- Catalayst AI on HQ

- check AA type is set to default and not Adaptative or Supersampling AA on CCC. ( you can use TSAA from in game settings )

morphological AA messes up games on ati, i had the problem with some games with that enabled. also the posters are right that in the ati control panel force AF 16x it has huge effect on how crisp textures are.

also be aware that AA enabled makes many games blurry, my rule of thumb is i rather see jagged corners then blurry crap, i never liked AA.

Many peoples enable MLAA and then forget it is working... MLAA is a post processing /compute based AA, specially made by AMD for work on games who dont support any AA.. basically it take the whole image after it is rendered and use algorythm for apply AA where it think it is needed.

The problem with MLAA or FXAA, is the text are offtly too Anti-aliased, the text become blurry ( could be the reason of why he see the whole cockpit blurry ).

Standard MSAA, dont blur textures, SSAA can even increase the textures quality ( the frame/image resolution is doubled, AA is applied then the image is reduced to the resolution of the screen, But Edge detect based AA or FXAA can result of blurry texure in some games yes.

Any idea when you don't have that option in your CCC.

Nope not there :(

I've tried to get it visible via REGEDIT:

Open regedit search for the key in registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Cl ass\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000

then search in UMD TextureLOD NA = 1

set 0 it will appears in CCC then

But no joy for the " TextureLOD NA" line. TextureLOD is visible and =0.

Still no mipmap settings in CCC???
