Operation Vertical Limit - Coop 4 & SP

Recommended Posts

Put another one together... 4 player coop and single player (for you antisocial types LOL)

Its a basic mission with nothing fancy...

There are several heavy armor units moving toward an 8 man Marine Recon Team. You are assigned to provide emergency CAS and protect those men.

The enemy consists of about 20 armored units and approximately 4 SA-13 Igla Mobile SAM launchers. Additionally, there are 2 known SA-13 units in the mountains around the area of operations... Be sure to thoroughly read your mission brief and check your flight plan closely.

It is recommended to stay above 17,000 until all SAMs are eliminated.

Lastly, the enemy is moving up a narrow road in a steep canyon so you will need to brush up on your canyon flying...

Your Ground crew has been busy prepping your plane for immediate takeoff so dont waste any time. You have about a 15 minute fly-in so you can prep your weps on the way.

As always comments are welcome

Tried different loadouts with this one. Coming in low with CBUs is almost certain death. Not sure if they work with the laser but tried that too and missed by 100 feet. High level 2000 pounders still doesn't take out enough targets. Using up two of my 6 mavs on the way there wasn't the answer. Skipped the route, went right to the target, nailed the high sam and the escort sams, high levelled the bridge. Then they just went thru the river. Down to guns. Got two passes but even with jinxing, they nailed me. Looked over the editor some more but could not figure out how to add a buddy to the runway start. That's what I need. A buddy.

hi shootist.... I wasnt sure if I should add more SP AI wingies so I didnt. IF you want to add them, when in the ME, select the "player" plane... where it shows "1 of 1" (its sort of a spin box type of thing), make the number on the right to "2". BLAM! you have a wingie.

Scrambled the 2-ship flight and eliminated the 2 Strelas overlooking the valley and immediately ID'ed the first convoy.

Took out its 2 Strelas with 65s and then went in with a ripple of 97s, which were uneffective (1009 issue, IIRC). And, being too greedy and not having the other convoy recce'd properly, we both got shot down eventually by its Strelas.

After respawn we eliminated the SAM threat completely first and then dove in with 65s, 97s and 30mm killing the rest of the enemy force. Being very proud of ourselves and the good work we did we started to RTB, only to see the Recon Team to be mowed down by 2 tanks that had somehow slipped past our TGPs...

On RTB we got engaged by the sole MANPAD (nice position). My controls malfunctioned and I had to eject, my wingman made it back with some scratches.

Its all about Recon, Recon, SA, Recon and Recon.

Overall a nice, straightforward mission. Thanks again! :joystick:
