Composition and Placement of Ground Units

EvilBivol-1

Recommended Posts

The ED Partners team is asking for your help in collecting information on group composition and specific placement descriptions for various types of ground units. Highest priority today are SAM systems, SPA (self-propelled artillery) systems, various types of convoys. The information would be used to create unit templates for the mission editor.

Thanks,

Unit group templates

Can user create own "unit group templates" in the editor in a user-friendly manner? and then share them with others? If not - implement it please :))) This will allow users to contribute in this subject even after DCS release!

Yes, but so far only for active ground unit groups. This feature will be made available for static objects as well, but before or after release I don't know.

Great start, keep it up! If you also have information on unit positions, it would be very helpful to the template creators. For example, when creating S-300 and Patriot site templates, the team attempted to place all units in positions that are accurate relative to each other down to the meter!

er... surely that wouldn't really matter that much as it just can't be that every SAM unit placement within SAM site would be exactly the same in every location down to meter, right? slight randomisation in individual unit distance and heading would be more realistic option I think, would others agree?

And you Kusch, with so many photos and details of things like that, you'd have to be some sort of double spy aye? :D

No longer active in DCS...

Actually Russian and Chinese stationary SAM Sites are usually all unified in their design.

Mobile SAMs are different - off course.
