Thank you for the benchmark. I reassured myself that it will be better to wait for 1080ti or Vega from AMD. KansasCS Posted June 20, 2016 Author Share Posted June 20, 2016 I'll be sticking with 1440p because the 144Hz Gsync does wonders in terms of smoothness. So the 1080 is more than enough for me, for the coming years. Besides, I was able to sell my 980ti for a reasonable price. Something I didn't mention is the the epic cooler on the 1080. It is able to sustain 69 degrees under load, without being heard. Of course, if you're gaming with a headset, PC volume becomes rather unimportant, but still. Hadwell Posted June 27, 2016 Share Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) Ok so my Asus ROG PG278Q just arrived today, and I gotta say, G-SYNC is awesome, and it's so smooth, it's so nice... I haven't tested it too much yet, but I can compare some things to my benQ GW2765... the PG278Q doesn't have very black blacks, and colours aren't nearly as vibrant as my GW2765, but in every other way, it's better, from what i've seen so far... no tearing is awesome, and seeing things as small as a pixel when the entire scene is shifting around is much MUCH easier with the asus monitor. yeah i'd say totally worth it to have two monitors, one really fast one with gsync, and one with good colour reproduction, one good for games, one good for everything else. I'm glad i got my BenQ monitor first. well... that's if your hobby is playing games. Now im just waiting for a EVGA FTW or classified 1080, and I'm set. I have squeezed this 2600k up to 5.250MHz lately...and still DCS yearns for MORE CYCLES.... This smooth effect is not good imo.. smooth yes but not like Gsync IMO Have you actually spent some hours with it? after a while, everything feels like its under water when you try to play games without it anymore... it has no effect on film at all, since mainly it decreases latency and blur... what gsync does is just stop the monitor from trying to display two frames on the screen at the same time, something that doesnt' happen in film... do some research before you call it an "effect"... it's more like a regulator, it makes sure the screen is only taking one frame at a time, and displaying that whole frame before the next one, unlike without gsync where the monitor just tries to display all frames at the same time regardless of if theres already a frame half drawn on the screen or not.
