Trackir is throttling down my gtx 960

Recommended Posts

Hi all, and sorry for my poor english.

My Gigabyte gtx 960 turns into P2 state while running trackir software (Ver 5.3), throttling down my memory clock from 3505 to 3005 mhz, all at default clocks.

Using the Gigabyte OC guru would not let me change the frequency at all.

Tackir running

No Trackir

This is annoying, because i want all the performance that can deliver my gfx card.

Anyone is experiencing this?, i don't know how to fix this.

Thanks

Right click on desktop and click nvidia controls, then click 3D settings I believe. Select black shark in the program's menu and change the above options

Thanks for your quick answer, i forgot to mention that i set power management mode to performance, and the behaviour persists.

Have you tried MSI Afterburner Suite yet ?

It is based on Riva Tuner and works with every card there is, NV or AMD.

You can dial in the frequencies there and check if it holds it, other than that..I dunno, I run TIR 5.3 myself and it doesnt interfere with my 3D settings at all as the MSI OSD tells me in game.

Maybe...try another USB port, directly from the mainboard and preferably Intel and USB 2.0 if available. Some 3rd party USB chips have not-so-nice drivers that cause a high CPU load, remember: USB is CPU-bound, if it bugs your CPU will maybe stutter.

USB has many many flaws which are hard to identify, best to try another port and chip first.

Your English is fine. I see the same here, with an empty desktop. Just start TIR5 and the clock drops. I don't know the solution.

I have another issue with NV and got this link to the newest driver that not all can see in GF Exp. as available.

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3832 version: 361.60

it's got "clocking" in the list of fixed...which is somewhat what I have too, just mine "consumes" too much in desktop mode ( known issue meanwhile by NV ).

good luck mate

Wow that is weird, doing the same thing to me as well. Tried the 361.60 hotfix driver also and still does the same... Track IR running the memory downclocks, without it running it does not.

Sounds like they have confirmed this issue and are working on a fix.

We are working on a fix, but it looks like this issue isn't just on 5.3. Used some older versions of our software to test it out and it looks like this issue has been around on previous versions as well. Hopefully we'll have an update out to you soon.

As a work around, I used Nvidia Inspector overclocking mode to adjust the P2 state back up to the P0 clock. Then when Track IR is started while the cards do go to P2, the memory clock remains fixed. I run 2x980Ti in SLI so you have to adjust the p2 state on both cards. Very cumbersome, so still hoping for a fix. You can save your settings as a shortcut through Nvidia inspector.

Guys is this a TrackIR issue or DCS?

Two things:

First, which cards and driver versions are affected by this?

I am using TrackIR software version 5.2.200.

An ASUS GTX 670 OC card.

nVidia driver version 340.52 WHQL.

And I don't see the downclocking issue?

Secondly, for those who experience downclocking, try the tool mentioned in this thread:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=159149

I tried it, and it seemed to work fine on my card.

(However, since I don't have the downclocking issue in the first place, I don't need it for now. :) )

System specs:

Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440)

Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use

It seems that only maxwell cards (Nvidia 900 series) are affected by this issue.

I tried several drivers with same results

The workaround you mention works but i cant raise mem clocks beyond stock, for overclocking purposes.

Guys there is a thread on this over on the Natural Point forums ( Track IR5 forum), where they confirm the issue and state they are working on a fix.

I would also encourage others that are having this issue to provide feedback there as well.

Seems the issue went away with the latest NVidia drivers 361.75 or intel hd drivers or the windows update...who knows but I'm not seeing it any longer.

Came back again after a mother board bios update and audio update. I have a feeling this is definitely a resource allocation issue. Windows still doesn't seem to do it quite right.

Natural Point posted on their forums earlier this week they are making progress on this problem and are working on a fix which should be coming soon.
