Quick and dirty Afghanistan style repint of DCS world.

First of all I want to put clear two things, this started as a mod for personal use, I started experimentating and I liked what we can do with the textures, and second and most important, I suck at texture edition/work, so the terrain looks low res I think. But I like the repaint as a Afghanistan style repaint for DCS, so we can use the Soviet planes in the 80's or the modern US planes just right now, the Caucasus double pretty well as the Afghan mountain ranges.

This updated mod is credited to Highwayman-ED, so kuedos to him, a HUGE THANKS for his work and here it is guys!!

There is a Tree Visibility slider in the options menu. Have you tried playing with it's settings?

Got permission from Highwayman-Ed to use his textures, Thanks mate! I will try to get better trees now, something that fits Afghanistan better.

- When will be released? No idea yet, want to try several things first, but should not take too long.

- Will be multiplayer capable? Can't see why not, is simply a repaint of what you see, BUT green vehicles will be more visible over that desert terrain so maybe thats a cheat If you play with people with green terrain.

- Will be JGSME compatible? I'm not using that, so I don't know, but install/unistall is so easy and troubleless that no one should be scared.

I will love to have someone that is capable of providing a small video and put it on youtube so everyone can see how it looks in motion.

Please make it that it is just a folder you place in JSGME, if you do you will find you probably have more downloads. JSGME is hassel free and you can just remove and install the mod with a single click of the mouse. Highwayman made a terrain for JSGME and I don't think it is any hassel if you know what you are doing. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make it compatible.

Once the mod is ready I will try to make it JSGME compatible.

For the Soviet-Afghan war will be great to have some new skins, a generic for the Hind, the Hip, the Flogger and the Su-17. If someone can create a Pakistani F-16A skin we can recreate the border clashes that ocured during the 80's.

By the way, given that the OPFOR in DCS uses Russian hardware, wouldn't it be slightly more accurate to replicate the desert-ish terrain of e.g. Iraq? Or Syria? Taliban fighters use old technicals with MGs mounted on the back and some leftover Stingers but that's about it.

I think your work is great and it's bringing us a step closer to the operations we see currently (or in the past 10 years) on news channels and documentaries. Immersion's definitely going up if you manage to release this 'repaint' bug free!

Which brings me to the following question, now that you have proven it to be possible to repaint the current map, do you think it is possible to edit the terrain mesh, borders, cities, rivers, lakes, etc.? Either creating a fictional Middle Eastern-ish country or attempt to replicate one of the countries I mentioned?

The reapint is ready to be released as a beta, I will try to add palm trees to the wolr dand that's it. I think is not possible to change cities, rivers or mountains, but maybe someone that knows better can do it!
