AN/ALQ-184 for the A-10C ready

Recommended Posts

Version

Beta 1, for public testing of incompatibilities, conflicts, and odd behaviour.

Information

This small mod makes it possible to load the AN/ALQ-184 ECM pod on the A-10C at stations 1 and 11. It does not overwrite or replace the AN/ALQ-131 ECM pod in any way, it is an addition to the selectable load.

In reality the -184 is an improved ECM pod compared to the -131. However, this improvement comes mainly from technical differences regarding what happens 'under the hood'. Since the fact that the current modeling of countermeasures in the DCS series is simplified anyway, a -184 would not be cheating as it does not offer better ECM perfpormance in-game anyway.

AN/ALQ-184 for the A-10C ready

Reserved for additional notes

It seems my .PNG doesn't look as subtle as all the others do so I might make a nicer one in the future. This is a mere detail however and I trust it is quite clear what you're about to mount on your station.

Currently awaiting approval for the download section.

Hi JayPee,

Nothing big really. I was looking at you files and though that this maybe it could help Ghostraider (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1939182#post1939182). He is is complaining that weapons cannot be loaded unto station 6 in DCSW.

To me it looks fairly simple to include weapons already identified in the game unto station 6, by adding them into the A10C.lua file under Pylon6, eg. as attached.

I did a short test last night and was able to drop the MK82 AIR, setup as Pilot Option in the inventory and as Nose fuzing in DSMS. Seems to work but I only tried it once.

I promisse I will try out your Mod this evening and get back to you :music_whistling:

Cheers

Hans

Thanks,

wondered if this ecm device would make it into DCS.

Great, now i have it.

Do you have the sniper pod too (lol, only a joke)

S!

Funny. I really thought about this. However, ECM pods in general are simplified in DCS. So if it's possible in real life to mount both -131 and -184, we might as well mount the -184 in-sim too as it doesn't make a functional difference anyway.

Regarding TGPs however, the Sniper (XR) is significantly different from the Litening. Hence mounting the Sniper on a pylon while retaining the functionality of the Litening goes against my sense of realism. Others are free to do whatever they want ofcourse. If it makes any sense, if the in-sim -131 or ECM in general were accurately modeled, I would've never used the -184 if that would mean -131 capabilities with -184 looks.

AN/ALQ-184 for the A-10C ready

I had nothing to do with that though I doubt they would use other methods than the ones in the mod. Unless there's a major overhaul coming up.
