New system build

Recommended Posts

Hey all

Just started playing DCS world and order A-10C loved it so much thought I would build a new system for it, here is the specs.

Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor

Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick

MSI Z87 MPower Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 240GB 2.5" SATA 6Gbs Solid State Drive

Kingston HyperX Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit

Corsair Carbide 500R Midi Tower Case - Black

and the stuff coming out of old pc

Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache

Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum 3072MB

I'm hope to be able too get a stable 4.8 out of it depending on heat.

Building this weekend so see in the sky's soon.:pilotfly:

I'm thinking of a new build also.

Quick question: Why the MSI board? (because that's one thing i'm still uncertain about).

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind combat pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Pretty Nice setup there!

It will run DCS like a dream, I absolutely have no experience with Nvidia cards, but for me the smaller brother of your supposed choice runs it pretty well (in cockpit 50fps to outside view 120fps not heavily loaded scenario of course but heavily loaded scenarios usually eat up the CPU more than the GPU).

Yer have seen that nvidia seems to be the card for this game but as I already have a HD7970 I'll stick with it, But thanks for the heads up.

Nice specs, shame you also bought an kingston SSD though.

Relative to other brands there slow(er) while equally expensive for a given amount of storage.

Still, any SSD is a great improvement over an HDD.

That system should run DCS quite well.

Another point for ASUS motherboards. They don't need adolescent females to attract customers. :P

Haha, guys look at my signature to see my Motherboard brand. I almost fell for her, but when I saw how she tortured that CPU - no way! :D
