ED Team NineLine Posted September 23, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) PLEASE NOTE NEW SYSTEM SPECS: Minimum system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows Vista, 7 or 8; CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz; RAM: 6 GB; Free hard disk space: 10 GB; Video: 512 MB RAM card, DirectX 9.0c - compatible; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; requires internet activation. Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows Vista, 7 or 8; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 8GB; Hard disk space: 10 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; NVIDIA GeForce GTX560 / ATI 6950 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation. Here is a short list of things you can try to work through crashes and performance issues with DCS World (please feel free to add your tips below, but this thread shouldnt be for posting any new issues): 1) Run DCS built in repair. 2) Start DCS World by bypassing the DCS icon launching process: ...\DCSWorld\bin\Launcher.exe. 3) Make sure you are running the game as Admin. 4) Make sure you are running a 64-bit Windows operating system with at least 6 GB of RAM. 5) Move (or delete) the DCS World folder in your Users/Saved Games directory. Don't worry, the folder will be recreated when you next start the game. Note that this will reset your game option settings. (this has been known to solve crashes, longer than normal mission load times and input assignment issues) 6) Turn off UAC. 7) Run Microsoft Viual C++ 2010 runtime install - (It has also been shown that cleaning out older version and/or a fresh install of 2010 has helped) - (Cleaning out old versions and installing a fresh copy of 2012 has also proved helpful in certain cases) 8 ) Run the latest DX9c Runtime Installer - (Again a fresh install of this has proven helpful as well) 9) Confirm all hardware drivers are up to date. DCS can be affected by more than just your video card. 10) Monitor your resources, watch your memory usage, look for programs that might be resource hogs, close anything that doesnt need to be running. 11) Does your desktop resolution match your sim resolution? This has been known to cause crashes in some situations. Sabre-TLA
Old thread but I'll post to this anyway as I've helped a few people that were having crashes due to their CPU/GPU overheating. Check the temps on your CPU and GPU and increase the fan speeds (or improve the cooling). It may help to resolve crashes like this one. RainbowCorner3
Mission hangs on startup Many thanks for this. Working down the list, I found that game screen res not matching monitor res was keeping missions from loading.
AtaliaA1
Many thanks for this. Working down the list, I found that game screen res not matching monitor res was keeping missions from loading. This issue seems to rear its ugly head every 3 or 4 updates. Causative factors need to apply across updates, I am sure the Developers are looking into this as updates are implemented. I hope.
