Raven434th
Traveling at 350 MPH, just above the deck(about a 100 feet or so),it took 16 seconds to travel the length of the lochini airfield runway (3 km's) start to finish...seems awfully slow? Is it just me or does the sense of speed seem off? kontiuka
Did a quick calculation and 16 seconds even sounds a little fast. Should be closer to 19 seconds but it really depends on what your true airspeed is. Edited October 20, 2014 by kontiuka
Raven434th
well it varied but I timed it twice at 16 out of 4 runs...one was 18 and another 17...this was eyeballin it out the window so it wasn't as accurate as it could/should be. Still it seems slow and I certainly didn't expect it to take longer. I noticed this in blackshark as well where the sense of speed seems to have dropped off these last patches compared to earlier builds. PhoenixBvo
Your sense of speed may have more to do with the type of aircraft you have been flying lately (any fastmovers) than the sim somehow running at another rate. You timed it yourself so you have a physical measure confirming DCS is not running slower. One thing that DOES influence your perception of speed is the view angle / zoom factor you were using. If you zoom in, your sense of speed will increase, because the optical flow (i.e. angular velocity of moving image features) increases. Try this out!
