Video Corruption and Related Card Issues

Tulkas

Recommended Posts

I had the same problem, but switching everything to application controlled, and (more importantly) everything else (Mipmap Detail etc.) to quality instead of performace fixed it for me.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Crusader

Thanks for the tip.

anyone figured out the right mfcd flickering?? i know it was mentioned with ATI cards, but i have an EVGA. tried all sorts of nvidea control panel settings. marginal results at best.

I had flickering MFCDs when the targeting pod or Maverick imagery was displayed - solved by setting the cockpit texture resolution option to one of the 'every frame' options.

Mmmmm...

Seems I got a new one :

screenshot010n.jpg

Pretty hard to take, though...

I was trying to improve graphics (all was set to low or off...)

So everytime I turn MSAA on, whatever the setting, it happens. It's not permanent, it is visible only when I turn the camera and look around... during the movement, I mean... And I think the center of the circle is the sun, but I'm not sure and it's pretty hard to verify it...

So here's my config :

Intel E8400 @Stock

2x HD4850 crossfired

4 Gb memory

Windows 7 64bits

Settings :

Textures High

Scenes High

Civ Traffic Low

Water Low

Visible Range Low

Heat Blur On

Shadows Low

Resolution 1680*1050

Aspect 16:10

Monitors 1 Screen

Res. Of Cockpit Displays 1024

MSAA : the point...

Clutter/Grass 300m

Full Screen

HDR

TSSAA

So what do you think ? ;)

What texture buffering is currently employed in A10c current beta build ?

e.g. triple buffering

Negative? It says 0... that's just no rep, which is pretty much expected for someone with just two posts.

I thought it started at 0 but green ? Even though it says 0, he could easily have a few neg reps, as it takes a few reps to get you moving from 0.

Extending the information in my first post after more testing:

-Happends always with TEXTURES set to HIGH in Caucaso theater

-Happends always when I load a mission in Nellis NO MATTER the graphics settings, even the lowest.

It looks like this after a glimpse of the cockpit:

fsscr109.jpg

fsscr112.jpg

Thos rectangles are suppouse to be the exit menu and the info bar in the ext. view.

the same identical issue for me.

my system:

E8500

4Gb Ram

Radeon 4850 512Mb Drv 9.8

Win XP Pro 32bit

My issue is always the same and I couldn’t find any sort of video options and configurations (neither in Ati CCC) to workaround it (even setting all the graphic options to the lowest values possible and MSAA to off): if set Texture to HIGH in caucaso region and to High or MID (sometime even LOW) in Nevada region cause video corruptions at the end of the loading screen. I can hear the sound but video is like the screenshots previously posted by Tulkas. I could try to update the ati driver but if I'm not wrong Tulkas has reported that it didn’t help. Don’t think is a memory issue because other ati or nvidia 512mem card doesn’t have such issue.

I could AA work only after have set “application setting” in Ati CCC, so that’s ok.

Now I'm flying (quite fine) at 1900x1200 with most of settings to MID.

cheers

Is that the most actual driver available for XP ?

No, it's not - maybe for the card, but definitely not for XP:

the most actual ati drivers are 10.9, but Tulkas (same card as mine)reported that 10.9 didn't help with that issue.

I could try the update in any case but 9.8 drv are one of the best version for the 4850 (expecially when you need to force the V-sync to avoid tearing effect).

Update DirectX and your Video Card drivers.

Also, there are reported problems with A-10C and ATI cards. As I use Nvidia I don't pay attention to the reports, so I don't have all the details. Stick to it, its just a beta.

Test it. If the bug is gone, you have to decide which you prefer flickering MFCD or running SLI. And you can also see for yourself, if the decision is all that difficiult (If SLI or not has any effect on FPS).

Remember: It's a beta.
