Are you sure? I saw your posts on this.

Now let's go back to the topic.. :smilewink:

I completely forgot all about this...SMH. I guess that's due to nothing actually being officially declared to this date still so my interest and memory recall was flushed. :)

I wouldnt expect anything over in the area of England right now, our best hope would be a low-rez mesh that we could drop the new FARP airfields on, but I am not sure we will even see that. The map is in the sim now, so I hope we will see an updater of size and area soon.

Well Sith, Wags has mentioned airfields in Southern England:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2255640&postcount=10

and we shouldn't forget that the Normandy map started out in the DCS WWII 1944 kickstarter campaign which many of us paid into. Here's a reminder for those that weren't involved at the time:

"Fight in famous battles like the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Falaise pocket. "

It's hard to imagine taking part in a D-Day invasion with no airfields to fly from. I know it also said :

"Landscape:

  • Normandy. Area of the historical D-Day Invasion, as well as the extensive preparation and follow-up battles."

but that Southern England question was referred to in Wags post. Kickstarter may have failed but with ED stepping up to complete the project, which was already started, my expectation is that the Normandy map will be playable in a D-Day sense. With CA it should be an interesting scenario.

Funny you should say that... B-2 Bazenville.

That's wheat or grass, not white weeds. And it's in black and white, not the green or golden colour it really was.

I dont think the initial release will have it. Asking for that stuff might be for future expansion. I mean I would love to be surprised with more area than we thought, I just want to temper expectations.

Hey Sith, maybe you or someone else can comment on if there are future WWII theaters planned? Also is the Normandy map considered to be a test bed for things to come for the WWII era?

Besides LN's Pacific stuff, I dont know of any others, I am sure there are plans being drawn up, but probably nothing close to being announced right now. Honestly I would rather see expansion of Europe before moving to anywhere else (aside from the Pacific stuff that is)

Easy question. Just think about what planes we have for the moment and check with any History book

Racoon teasing us as always.. :D

Just love these modern "early leaks of future news about anouncement of teaser for upcoming trailer of the movie" something like that. My English is weak to compose such sentences ))

Seriously speaking we don't have many possible battlegrounds with current units (already built and those in production now).

THank you sir. I am more partial to the Pacific for some reason. I guess it's because of the Battle of Midway and Coral Sea battle from what I have seen(movies), read and heard. That's another topic though. I do welcome an expansion also if that is chosen. Sounds like good things to come!:)

I was merely addressing the statement...

...even ALGs, being knee deep in grass.

They were constructed in farm fields. I'm sure there was tall grass.

They are infectious aren't they. Once you get bitten then that is it.

They are the only things worth simulating! No cheating radar or missiles to do the pilots job for him-just the pilot, his guns, his craft and the enemy.

For me extending the Normandy map to include more of England such as Lincolnshire or East Anglia as well as Germany should be a priority over creating new maps in the future

Racoon,

Will the map include detailed railway infrastructure that can be damaged as part of mission building?

If so, if would help us with historic missions. For example, a general offensive was laid on against railway systems in France and Belgium by the Allies.

From 19th May 44 to 1st June 44, there were 3,400 fighter sorties against the railway system. Individual locomotives were destroyed or damaged, as were railway bridges, loco sheds and tracks. All marshalling yards from Paris to Brussels were attacked and razed in the period from April to May 44.

It would be great to be able to fly on missions like these from England to attack railway systems on the continent and also to try our hand at locomotive busting.
