MP Mission: Operation Hacienda

Joyride,

 

We have flown the older version of this mission and loved it! I downloaded and hosted the new version last night but we seemed to have some problems. My guess is that we took too long to get on-station (we have a new guy in the mix and we took our sweet time getting airborne). Grappler seemed to either have been long gone by the time we were at the anchor point or they didn't leave the Alamo (there was a friendly marker at Alamo for what seemed like ages). The odd call did come up over the radio but something seemed amiss. Last time we flew this mission we scrambled and this time we orbited with not much happening. I'm just wondering whether there is a time constraint to get on-station?

 

Again, great mission and look forward to more like it.

CF - thanks for the feedback. I'll look into the issue - off the top of my head, don't know what happened to you guys. The flag to trigger the main show to start is based on a client A-10 being about 30 miles from Alamo, so not sure how that could have gotten messed up by you guys hanging around the base, everything should have just waited for ya. But, I put the trigger logic together a long time ago now, so will have to dig in a little.

Hey, joyride. I was testing again on my own and this time I noticed Grappler leaving the Alamo when I was about mid way between Batumi and Tbilisi. I can only assume they made it without much trouble because I never see them again or hear them taking fire. By the time I'm on station there is nothing much happening. They make the odd call but have passed all the checkpoints long before I'm close. Later on Pontiac arrives, lands and then shuts down and nothing else seems to happen. I notice friendly markers at both the Alamo and Hacienda by the time I'm at the IP. No idea what I could be doing wrong.

Col.Flanders. I did a test run and indeed the convoy is blowing through a simple hold trigger at the beginning of the mission. Not sure why that issue suddenly arose, will have to explore it. Thanks for posting the issue.

 

In any case, I put in an easy fix and will upload to the ED downloads. For now, here's a link to v2.1:

Classydjo, I haven't had time to run it through in 1.2.7,, but let me know if you had any problems. Haven't heard of anything.

 

#1 - We flew it, 6 ships. Seems like there is 1 vehicule from the convoy that become static on the road near CP Bravo (Humvee).

 

#2 - Also, Pontiac 1-1 landed at hacienda, but the convoy never made it to Hacienda: one vehicule stopped at bravo (see #1) and we had another LAV stuck near a house really close to Hacienda.

 

#3 - When Pontiac 1-1 took off, the last radio voice-over we had was the one from Pontiac 1-1 saying he saw Grappler and was taxiing to their position.

 

#4 - Maybe 15 sec after Pontiac took off, he got hit by a AAA that was never reported.

 

This being said, we already flew this mission with previous version of DCS (can't remember well...) and we succeeded. We also open+saved the mission with 1.2.7 editor.

 

Hope this can help! We will give it another try to avoid having only 2 vehicules left once at Hacienda hehe

It looks like OP TR is malfunctioning as well. Ran it tonight and after all targets were destroyed at the summit there was no further tasking. I'm not asking you to take the time to troubleshoot the issue, just letting you know. It looks like the latest update borked numerous missions.

As the way finding AI is still utterly bugged, I guess you'll have no joy.

At the moment any railway bridge is a blocking point on a road based path for the AI... there was also a problem with the hold trigger if I remember correct... let's wait for DCS World and see if they can fix the AI.

 

My guess is, they won't fix anything In the old engine anyway. It would be a waste of resources, most of the time.

We tried this about a week ago and managed to escort the convoy to the airfield. Transport planes weren't coming and we couldn't figure out exactly why, maybe it was one Shilka still alive in the city well clear of the airfield. At this time we decided to end the mission as people were getting tired. A friend of mine had fixed some show stopping bug in the mission but I don't know what it was.

Can you upload the fixed version? ( so I understand the convoy is starting to the airport now? )

I'll have a look into the triggers for the Transport, then... was a really nice immersive mission with the voice overs and all.

I think they have people working on the ME problems, though. But I'm sure the team fixing the errors is concentrating on doing so in the current developer version (hopefully 2.0 RC1) and not in the already "obsolete" 1.2.9 release...

I think together with the new Graphics engine, a couple of additions and bug fixes are on its way... and a pack of new bugs of course, but that's always happening when you build software! ;)

 

I may be wrong, though, but my gut feeling says they fix a lot in parallel to the EDGE integration...
