Should Daytime HUD be better with NVGs?

Is it correct in DCS A-10 that the night HUD color, the red, actually works worse with the NVGs than the daytime green color? The red comes across too bright whereas the green is subdued and easier to use when you're wearing the Shift+H goggles.

The night time colour is for flying without NVG's. With NVG's you just use the normal green HUD and maybe tone down the brightness if necessary.
