Improved Towns & Villages Mod

Recommended Posts

The textures themselves have no effect, I can't speak for PeterP's HDR, SweetFX or Mustangs clouds, but I don't see a hit myself.

The beauty of using mods with JSGME is if you don't like them, a better one comes out, or it kills your FPS, you can just disable them again with one click!

Good luck, I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Ed,

Is it correct to say that, if I first create the Barza\Terrain\vfstextures\LandTexturesAutumnOther

(and other three folders for the other seasons) in the _Mod folder in the DCS directory (that is going to be used by JSGME), then copy all the extracted files to the corresponding newly created folders, I can simply enable these mods using JSGME?

Is it still necessary then to create empty folders with the same names in

DCS World\Bazar\Terrain\vfstextures?

Thanks a lot. Looking forward to using your mods.

Cheers

I combined your textures only with Toby's Low&Slow, clouds, sweetfx and HDR and the results is something like "crytek" . Even if i have greatly impacted FPS keeping all details at their very full option (extreme mode distance enabled also), I would never come back to the original non-moded form.

Also the DTAC textures are very good, but is just about me prefering Toby's for now.

To all of you modders, a big heil from me!

Looks great and don't worry, I'm not offended, you're not the first person to do this.

OK, now the cat is out of the bag so to speak, here is the version of my villages mod with the blended version of Toby's excellent two terrain mods included that I made a good few months back: Download

It's in JSGME format, just drag it into your JSGME mods folder, enable it and enjoy. Don't forget to remove my old version and Toby's originals if you have them in already!

You don't have to install via JSGME if you don't want to, simply copy the files and folders over your DCS directory, but I would highly recommend using JSGME as it makes it very simple to remove and then re-add mods when patching DCS.

This version (linked in the first post) is more recent than your current version and it is fully 1.2.7 compatible.

Awesome mod Highwayman, many thanks for this! Just to double check, are you saying we no longer need Toby23's Low n Slow, as it is now fully integrated into your mod? It certainly looks like it, just wanted to make sure.

It's a version of Low n Slow, not the original. For this version I added greenery to the ground texture.

Added Foxbeard's Terrain texture file to my villages and Rocky's DTAC trees as an alternative version - Removed due to claims of plagiarism (T@ker -> Foxbeard)

Okay, thanks. I gotta say Highwayman, I am liking your version, good work!

Added Foxbeard's Terrain texture file to my villages and Rocky's DTAC trees as an alternative version here

I did try Foxbeard's terrain last night and didn't get on with it; I prefer something that looks less like satellite imagery and more like, well, terrain (like your Towns and Villages, or Toby23's Low n Slow). Maybe that's because I tend to be down low in the Shark, not up with the jets. Might give your linked version a go though. Thanks.
