Just a note here that it seems after Wags revised the first post a tidbit, that there is no Alpha access for any of the airplanes, only for the Normandy map (starting at $140).

It felt a little too good to be true to begin with and alpha versions are rarely any real fun in my experience...

Deedle, deedle!

ED is not keen about alpha access at all. If they find a way to circumvent it, they will.

And tbh, a true alpha is packed with glitches and unfinished features. I'd rather see ED honoring backers with beta access.

Hi there,

Please help me understand.

When kickstarter was open I pledged 72$. That got me all 6 planes and a tshirt (add shipping cost). Now, as I understand, this pledge gets me 3 planes and no tshirt!?

Ok,

I put in 40 US and that worked out to be around 60 odd NZD..

I do feel let down that I now will not get what I put my hard earned money into..I am not made of cash and it was a mission for me to even get that money.

without having to read over 100 posts on the subject why cant ED keep in line with the original backers items ???

I have the P51 all ready and was very excited about the other five now I can only have two

Just seems like I have had the wool pulled over my eyes :(

Sounds like I lost the extra keys intended for my brother:

Was (for 170):

All aircraft plus 2 digital copies of DCS World FW-190D-9 with beta access (when available), 2 digital copies of DCS World P-51D Mustang. Includes two invitations for ALPHA ACCESS for yourself and for your friend.

To put it blunt ... if one is really short on money, it would be probably best to not put it into risky endeavours as kickstarter projects are by nature.

Regarding the "why" - this explained Wags already in the first posting (of the other thread about this topic):

After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable.

$60-$79

Silver Backer credit in manuals

Three aircraft of choice and print-ready PDF manual

So, basically ... yes.

Technically, you get all 6 airplanes, all of them will work in DCS:World, and you get ONE additional DCS module of choice (which should include the WW2 planes), so you've got all your own personal stuff (six airplanes) and one key that you can give to your brother.

Also, if you already own the P51D, you can probably select another second copy of any of the airplanes (instead of the P51D), which you can again gift to your brother. ;)

DCS A10C Warthog, DCS Black Shark 2, DCS P51D Mustang, DCS UH-1H Huey, DCS Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight, Flaming Cliffs 3, Combined Arms

System: Intel i7 4770k @4,2GHz; MSI Z87-G65; 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM; 128GB SSD SATA3 (system disk); 2TB HDD SATA3 (games disk); Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X; Windows 7 64bit

Flight controls: Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog; Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder; TrackIR 5; Thrustmaster F16 MFDs; 2x 8'' LCD screens (VGA) for MFD display; 27'' LG LCD full HD main display

I totally feel you. While the higher level backers have to give up a lot what was promised to them, they at least get some kind of recognition for being a backer in a project that many had doubts about. Lowest level backers were promised three planes and now get nothing at all, despite backing this RRG-ED joint venture that ED will turn into a profitable product now.

Maybe guys with pladge level in the range from 10 to $ 19 could get at least a map of Normandy? That would be something, but i know... you can always dream.

I really, really don't understand the situation, in which an extra $10 would bring me modules for around $90, and for half of that $20 pledge i will receive anything specific.

I initially pledged $40 for the flyables, but upped my pledge to $50 just to get in on Alpha (although my DCS backer page says Beta access). The 6 flyables I am not that bothered about to be honest and I always thought 6 for $50 was pushing the boundaries a bit.

But I now understand that alpha/beta is not available to me. Why? It doesn't cost anything to grant me access to alpha/beta stage so why do I now not get it? even though it was included in my pledge.

Thanks Wags.

OK. It's fair. ED took the right choice to remain sustainable.

Thanks for being blunt..

But I still feel let down , You do have a point. But I was happy to do so because i have all but one aircraft in DCS as well as CA. This is why i saved and browed the coin for the WW2 project because of ED name to it. not the other guy.

And that being the case I did not feel it was a risky thing because it had the ED name to it.

I suppose when the dust settles and more comes out on what happened behind closed doors I may feel better about it..

Just gutted thats all.

So I understand that kickstarter pricing was aimed at expanding customer base, but even at the end of kickstarter it was obvious the project and all possible strech goals will be backed by current dcs fan base. I would rather see this project go live even at 50% loss of rewards, but please make it final so I can enjoy the updates and not live in dread of them. At this stage I always prefer kind words to bluntness.

ED isnt really set up well for any sort of Alpha program, I honestly never saw that happening, so no it doesnt cost anything, but having to adjust their workflow to release an Alpha version and then support updates for those is not feasible right now...

Also, these aircraft are so complex that I think most people would not enjoy Alpha as much as some of the common Alphas out there, they can be quite a mess in an "alpha" state.

You know guys, there is nothing wrong with being angry, or disappointed or whatever... I think everyone was to a certain extent, but understand, so was ED, they didnt take into these changes lightly...

And O_Smiladon, thanks for sharing, I appreciate when someone is able to convey their feelings in a mature manner.. its refreshing (not that others havent)

I get it, I do. And I honestly do feel for the guys from $1 - $19, not so much in the lost money... its really not that much and it still did go for development, but that you were drawn in by an incredibly unrealistic deal... but one that was too good to be true. That said, its not like ED is skating out of this without incurring any damage themselves... but I do get your point.
