Grimes
I'll change the triggers to crash and see of it helps. Right now I am using the "Group Dead" condition. It is not effective for the mission I'm trying to create. Thats just the event type that can be used to check triggers at a non constant rate. It will only effect the outcome of the trigger if the event never occurs. You can safely leave it on "no event" to test for group/unit is dead conditions. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. gavagai
Ok, I've double checked everything, waypoints are set to CAP, but the AI 109E always gives up after a few seconds of fighting. Then he just flies straight or in a lazy turn and lets me shoot him. I've checked red-blue, loadouts, waypoint orders, etc. I can do the exact same mission against an AI P-51 and it will fight to the bitter end. The file I have downloaded is a rar file. I can't open it, so where do I put it. Clean answers only please. Go here http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm Download the version of winrar that suits your OS, x86 if you have 32bit windows and x64 if you have 64bit. Unzip the file in any folder you want and run it. Also, if winrar pops up a window telling you to buy the program, winrar that is, don't worry about it, just press close (although they may have finaly removed that since I don't get it). The file I have downloaded is a rar file. I can't open it, so where do I put it. Clean answers only please. You'll need to extract the Bf109E.exe file out of the compressed .rar. If windows won't do it by default (i.e. double click on the .rar file), then you may have to download a compression / uncompression utility like "Winrar". Konrad Friedrich
On another note, it might be better if the skin of this or whatever model gets done next is a little more distinct from the terrain palette.. this gets pretty washed out. Guess why they painted planes in that kind of camouflage ;)
gavagai
Guess why they painted planes in that kind of camouflage ;) That's right. P-51s were bare aluminum and highly visible because the P-47s had already shot down most of the Luftwaffe.:pilotfly: P-51D | Fw 190D-9 | Bf 109K-4 | Spitfire Mk IX | P-47D | WW2 assets pack | F-86 | Mig-15 | Mig-21 | Mirage 2000C | A-10C II | F-5E | F-16 | F/A-18 | Ka-50 | Combined Arms | FC3 | Nevada | Normandy | Straight of Hormuz | Syria
OutOnTheOP
A lot of P47s were bare aluminum, too. They found that they could save like 300-400 pounds on the plane by not painting it (I don't remember the exact amount, but it is HUNDREDS of pounds), and that it reduced drag, increasing the max airspeed slightly. Mortifa
In no way is ROF more accurate, they even admitted they have the flight model wrong on some of their planes and will not correct it, that speaks volumes. This sim spanks ROF without the damage model, planes act like planes, you throttle back the nose goes down, throttle up the nose goes up. Though ROF does look a little nicer. Someone asked for the source of the above comment. The thread is locked, but this is from Mr. Jason Williams. We'll make more announcements when we're ready. But you want straight talk so here it is. None of our current plans involve further FM changes. We are focused on other parts of the project and BOS. Please stop the drama over the FMs. It doesn't motivate us to do anything more with them. Same complaints from the same people, day in and day out. We're aware of them. ROF is not a tragic product as put above, it is a stellar product that has defied the odds. We are proud of what we have created. You should be too, but it will never be perfect for 100% of users. Just not possible with a flight-sim. If and when we can or choose to re-make flight models we will and we'll let you know. As I have said to all of those that continue to PM me on the subject, we have to make difficult choices on where and how we apply our resources and we'll never be able to address every feature some deem to be deficient. This product as much as it seems is not on a perpetual, forever development life-cycle. At some point we have to move on with our overall larger plans. Maybe future plans can include FM revisions, but that depends on the business climate, what the market will bare and what we can afford. Personally, I hope we can continue to improve ROF in different ways far into the future. I always fight for that, but there are a lot of considerations and different parties involved in such decisions. Jason http://www.777Studios.net www.1CGS.net Kiss of death for a flight simulator, at least for me. ED Team NineLine Posted April 10, 2013 ED Team Share Posted April 10, 2013 I love simulators, all shapes and sizes, the biggest problem with simulators? I will give you an example... This thread titled: "AI Messerschmitt Bf109E Beta released" It what shape or form does the discussion of ROF benefit the release of this AI plane lol.... Think we should keep it focus on comments and issues concerning the 109E. ROF is a fine piece of art... :( Yes it is a piece of art, but it is not a flight simulator. I did not start that thread though I agree with the flight model problems, when I fully reduce throttle a plane should not climb. There are things in this simulator that need work, but if someone mentions them here, I do not, or have not seen the admins jump in and lock the thread. Fate is inexorable...
