Can your PC run BS with no related issues? see poll above

Can we have a list of PC rigs which can actually play BS with no PC related isuues?

There seems to be a lot of problems even on top end rigs.

Please note I am just curious and want to get the best out of this fantastic sim.

My setup is as follows

DCS BS English DVD

XP PRO 32 sp3

dx 9c

250 GIG RAPTOR

ATI 4870

INTEL 8500 3 GIG CORE 2 DUO

700 WATT PSU

4 GIG CORSAIR 1066 (3.33 GIG for xp 32)

P5Q DELUXE mobo

Nothing is overclocked and all is running at low temps. Freeze occurs usually after 10 mins and requires a full reboot

I have tried various ATI drivers and settings, but always get a freeeze in MP or SIM mode.

Minimal system requirements:

OS: Windows XP, Vista; CPU: 2 GHz; RAM: 1 GB; Graphics: 256 MB ATI or nVidia, DirectX 9 compatible; Sound card; 4 GB of free space on HDD; Copy protected, requires internet activation.

Recommended system requirements:

OS: Windows Vista for launching in fullscreen mode; CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850+, AMD Phenom 9850+; RAM: 2+ GB; Graphics: 512+ MB ATI HD 2900+ or nVidia 8800+; Sound card; 4+ GB of free space on HDD; Copy protected, requires internet activation; Joystick.

Runs fine for me. The loading times are a bit long. Also I've noticed while in game the hard drive cranks away at a fixed period. Almost like a 1Hz pulsing sort of sound. Even if I'm just sitting on the runway doing nothing. But I don't think I'd say I have any issues running the game.

Pentium D 2.8GHz

4GB RAM

eVGA GeForce 9800 w/512MB RAM

10k rpm Raptor HDD

Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer

Windows XP SP2

I haven't yet tried multiplayer. Still in basic training for the aircraft :)

There seems to be a lot of problems even on top end rigs.

And what data do you base this statement on if I may ask? The general consensus seems to be that Black Shark is one of the most bug free games that has been released lately. Sure there are some issues, like with any other software product, and it's unfortunate for the people who have them, but the team is working on fixing them. The best thing you can do if you have problems is to write a detailed bug report.

Running fine here:

Single player - runs perfectly, always.

Multiplayer - starts getting choppy after extended periods (30 min+ in mission), crashes on exit sometimes (does not require a hard reset, the process merely needs to be shut down).

So, is that a yes or a no? No, I guess...but only for multiplayer, which somehow seems more demanding than single player, regardless of the number of units involved.

My PC is a little old though:

Core 2D E6850 @ 3.3 GHz

GTS 8800, stock clocks

2 GB DDR2 (good quality, forgotten brand though)

A motherboard, a mouse that needs cleaning underneath, a Cougar with some dust on one edge etc etc etc

P.S. The light band thing, and sound volume thing are part and parcel of BS - they are not PC related.

I voted No.

"Issues" is a spanning description though and while the game in general is well playable on my rig, there are several problems related to graphics, sounds and crashes, that cannot be denied.

It's difficult to tell, though, if the engine not being ready to support modern features (soundengine...) or stop using old ones (distant shader flicker) that are no longer supported or if it really is an incompatibility between hardware-configs and the game itself.

And if it is hardware-configs, there's always the human factor as you can never tell what was set up wrong in the BIOS or driver-settings, harddrive config and CPU/RAM combination.

So, this question is rather subjective and I doubt it's useful to generate a general guideline for rigs and hardware playing BS well or not other than in terms of performance, maybe.

I tend to agree, although my rig runs every piece of software I throw at it ok. I think the engine may have older features though (LOMAC legacy features) rather than newer ones
