Esac_mirmidon
It seems OLS-K and SOAR. OLS-K: Designed to detect and track ground targets, it detects tank from 20km, rocket boat from 40km. Laser has range of 20km. System use the same technology as OLS-UM. It was made by NII PP institute, which previously made opical devices for space industry. SOAR: System consist of two stations, one on engine's gondola, second on the top of the fuselage, behind the cabin. It detects rocket launches and shows the direction from which the missile is coming. The threat is also signalled by vioce. It can detect Stinger/Igla from 10km, a2a missiles from 30km, big surface to air missiles from 50km. SOAR was also developed in NII PP Institute. The suite is completed with a Laser Warning Device (SOLO), and a self protection ECM suite. Edited October 6, 2015 by Esac_mirmidon " You must think in russian.." It's pretty difficult to hide the effect of four 450kg warheads. Sounds like they were tracking phantom radar signatures unless we can see some damage. Emu
Who knows, Iran likes Russia, it would be in there best interest not to mention it... but who knows, depends on the side of the fence you are standing on right ;) Yeah or CNN quotes two unnamed US officials, or better yet, doesn't actually quote them - note lack of quotation marks in article - and can't provide a scrap of evidence, either of the event itself, or which officials made the statements, or what they actually said. All the hallmarks of quality journalism right there. Don't think it really matters on fence side if you look at it objectively.
