Modules bought from this site/Steam compatibility

Okay, so I looked it up a bit, but found nothing relevant. I got that, for example, keys bought on this site won't work with modules from Steam, and so on.

But I have another question:

I already have several modules (FC3, A10C...), all of them were bought on Steam, and successfully activated.

Now if I want to buy a new module, but this time not from Steam, but from DCS site (it has a nice sale offer this two days), will it work with Steam modules? If I, say, install it somewhere on steamapps/common/../DCS.., and run DCS World from Steam, will it "see" modules bought from DCS site? Will I be able to play?

Or steam modules are steam modules, DCS site modules are DCS site modules, and they are incompatible with each other?

It is possible to get it to work, however, Steam updates will break likely break it. Do so is not recommended.

Thank you!

Okay, so what if I do this:

1. Copying keys of modules bought from Steam

2. Deleting all modules via Steam (World, FC3, A10C...)

3. Downloading all respective modules from DCS website (World, FC3, A10C...)

4. Activating them with keys I had from Steam previously, which I wrote down at step 1

Will that work?

I read that keys bought on DCS site do not work on Steam, but will keys from Steam work with modules bought from DCS website?

What you described will work just fine.

You could even keep your Steam install, if disk space is not an issue. Both installations would work just fine although, by default, they would use the same Saved Games folder which might, or might not, be to your liking (this can easily be changed).

EDIT: Since they will use the same/existing Saved Games folder, you should not even need to reconfigure any of your controls or other settings.

EDIT2: As far as activation, the activation window may come up when you first run a mission but they should all still use the existing activation.

Aha, so, basically, keys from modules bought from Steam can activate modules downloaded from DCS site, right? Just asking to make sure I got you right
