Hm... Me & my wingie (Mozdok Hawg flight) got a task to engage a building with a high value target in it...

...the building should have had two parked trucks in front...

 

...we engaged the SAMs and AAA in the encampment but could not identify the sought for building... so we went for the kill randomly eradicating all things standing...

...of course we receiwed a subtle "Court Martial expects you, you trigger-happy dudes..." message...

 

:D

 

So, whats with the target building in that task and why doesn't it have trucks in front (or UAZ, don't remember correctly)...?

@Habu23, nice random task setup, but i have one question:

 

why you start with

1. Mission Start / Random(100) / Flag On(11) && FlagSetRandomValue(12,0,0)

 

for what do you need the Conditon: Random(100)?

@Paco: I'm glad the explanation helped, i'm just an amateur :)

 

@Aries: For that tasking, its critical that you use your Targeting Pod to positive ID the house with two ural trucks parked outside. It's there, you just have to look :)

 

@mwd2: Random 100% is used at Mission Start because I need "Flag 11 is true" and "Flag 12 set to value 0" to initiate at the first moment the mission is started. Random 100% is basically another way of saying "Just do this no matter what".

FYI -

Eno asked me to get this mission of yours running on Eno's Firehouse. We are talking about it over at the A-10C Warthog forum at SimHQ.

Eno's Firehouse is running DCS v1.1.1.1, and can be found at 174.7.66.194:10308. The regulars on the Firehouse use SimHQ TeamSpeak; registration required, free membership at SimHQ (I am not staff there).

Hmm, very interesting, Habu -

 

BTW, the sound file is missing for the Pig Mission Complete, Sound To Country trigger action.

 

I have not used sounds, where do the files need to be to open them - anywhere? Then do they get pulled into the mission file?

Sounds can be anywhere. Every sound file you select adds it to the .miz even if you use a sound that is installed with the game. You can check which sounds are added to a mission by making the mission a zip, rar, or 7z and then peaking inside of it. Should look something like this: miz_rarred.jpg

Uf, once again, great mission Habu! :thumbup:

 

I joined an on-line server with it running, at about 2:30h of duration...

...the sun was just setting down, and I flapped my wings into Boar flight...

 

Really enjoyed the plunge into darkness when the fun started...

My return to homeplate... a few scratches, so we don't forget the trip...

 

...in the end, I tried to rejoin with Arco to feed my thub, but the tanker was already on the ground, which I found out pretty late...

 

Was it the case that TACAN "Y" is for air subjects but then the distance measurement doesn't work? As for "X" it works... hm?

 

One mistake, in the briefing it says:

 

"Arco 3: 151.00 VHF AM, TACAN: 126Y

*Closer to Pig and Tusk Flights"

 

I guess it should state "Pig and Boar Flights"... :smartass:

 

Luckilly, this beast has enough fuel to go arround the world, so I landed on Kutaisi with my last fuel drops... and waved to the grounded tanker crew... (is there any way to make them take off again?).

Hello all,

 

I have been without internet since Wednesday, so I apologize for the late response. Thank you for bringing to my attention the missing file for Pig flight's mission complete sound file.

 

For the tanker, TACAN Y will only give bearing and not range. You are right that "Tusk" flight should be "Boar". Because you joined the mission after being hosted on the server for nearly 2.5 hours, the tankers most likely RTB'd before you could reach them. I designed the mission to start after all clients are connected instead of "joining in progress". In future versions i'll try and extend the station time to accommodate those who join way after the start of the mission. It has also been suggested that I add the SLMOD functionality to the mission, which I will give serious consideration.

 

Version 3.0 is being worked on but will not be available for release in some time due to real life commitments.

We are getting awesome feedback on the missions habu- thanks again for making such a great contribution to our gameplay experience over at the firehouse server. We are an open server that invites pilots of just about all skill levels (some of the more demanding missions require at least some familiarity with different systems) 24hrs a day. A couple of items mentioned for your consideration:

 

Being able to continue with missions from other flights (if possible) without changing aircraft. (may need to depend on game audio for the switch?)

The longer station time for tankers as already mentioned

Loiter time on station between tasks (f10 functionality used to request early rtb may be used to initiate triggers if all are ready to go?

 

Honestly- there are so many great features of your missions- finding anything worth changing is a daunting task. All of our requests stem from the different nature of our server. If it can (also) accommodate the wider time frame- but still be actioned by user functions... Perhaps we can work something out between our groups so it's not you doing ALL the heavy lifting. I can't speak for WC- he's our mission design specialist- but I think there is a great opportunity here.

 

Anyway- just brainstorming.

 

A few of us were playing at night last night and had a great time. I had to bail early unfortunately but man it's fun!

Hello all,

 

Thank you for the kind remarks and comments. The missing sounds are a problem native to DCS World v1.2.0. The fix that menendezdiego linked should work.

 

I take all feedback very seriously and will think about implementing the ideas that have been mentioned recently. Tankers will have longer station times and I will consider adding SLmod to Version 3.0 so that task orders can be repeated and F10 commands can be issued. The main reason why this mod has not been implemented in the past two versions is to insure stability and compatibility at all costs. I realize that SLmod is very popular and proven, so this shouldn't be an issue. Also, it appears that the author frequently updates the mod as patches to DCS are released. I will give this mod further thought as I approach a future release day, but I hope you all understand my rationale.

Just a quick reminder for patch 1.2.1, load Operation Bactria in the mission editor and save it again so that the code will be updated with the new patch. Please let me know if anyone is experiencing game play problems (JTAC, units missing, etc.) with the new patch.

Wow, now that is a mission. Well done guys, you should carve out a 3rd party Mission Developer niche. I would happily pay $5-10 for missions of this quality. Get ED to build in a centrally hosted premium MP map server, add a map download meter to the loading screen, enable dynamic scaling of difficulty/distance/options on start-up.... A win for ED in increased customer base, win for you in cash, win for players. Just sayin. Nice work.

I had problems with JTACs Anvil 4 and Colt 4 not entasking me on infantry targets. They respond with "no further tasking available". They work well with vehicles, but not on infantry.

 

I noticed that with the latest patch AI wingman has a hard time on spotting infantry, maybe it has something to do with the issue.

@Quarkie: I was afraid that the new patch (and future patches) will break the JTAC functionality. I will look into it as soon as I can. Future additions to Op. Bactria will not include JTAC functionality (with the exception of course with Boar flight, which will remain unchanged) due to this issue in almost every patch.

Habu, this mission is GORGEOUS!

The only problem I had so far was that there was no F10 menu present for me (Hawg Lead), but I wasn't host, so thats something I'll have to work around. I don't have any other bugs to report at this time, since I haven't been able to spend much time with it at this point.

 

You're doing a great job on this, giving those poor ambushed guys the much needed CAS felt so GOOD; Immersion level is off the scale :D

Myself and a couple of friends just finished this mission with Hawgs and we had no problems with JTAC.

One of my favourites if not the one.

Windows 7 Professional x64, EVGA GTX 1060 6GB,
