Collective Box and started Hacking the Cyclic Stick

Just a quick uodate before I go to bed..

The basics of the Collective Control Box is done now. Just waiting for the more than helpfull people at Thrustmasters Support department. They are sending me the required Collie hats for both the Cyclic and Collective.. And as far as going the extra mile to help a customer they sure take 1st price..

So to all of them.. Thank you!:thumbup:

I have finished the collective rod as well, it just doesn't show on the picture. Next to the box is what will eventually be the cyclic stick. Anyone recognize it?

Yup it's an old Thrustmaster stisk I had in a drawer all forgotten.. With a new top (I'll make fibreglass molds for that), and new triggers, I hope it will resemble the real one quite well..

PS.! All the parts are in theyr Rawest form now. Still have to do some work with filler, sanding, surfacing and painting to have them look really good.. But at least I have passed the second milestone in my project. (the first was making the modules and seat basics)

I have done a rough estimate as far as time goes. Phuuh.. At this pace, and If i want to keep my social life The full Cockpit will be 100% done in 3 years time.. Not that I care though.. The process of learning new skills and "plan-execute-evaluate" prosess is more than rewarding in it self..

Just building my own collective (and cyclic stick) has made me come a lot closer to the KA-50. It's really an paradox of a machine. The ultimate proff that the "east" went theyr own way in building aircraft, and now I am not shure who I would bet my money on anymore.. I might just be going RED here..

And I used to think the F-18 was the best plane EVER..! naah.. Strap me in a 'frog' and send me on my way.. I'll return full of holes and grinning from ear to ear..

So please... hurry with my Ka-50..? I miss it so allready..! And I havent even tried it yet.. LMAO

Quite simple once you have the handle to hack.. But the triggers are giving me a headache already..

The box will look like this:

And stuck ontop of my already hacked old Thrustmaster I plan to achieve a result looking like this:

from memory thats the engine start selector or similar. notes #1 vid :)

a tricky switch to make, hmmmm.

maybe use a rotary switch, but instead of a dial/knob turning and pointing to say 5 options around an arc, you could have the toggle handle mounted on an angle so that it spins around instead of being able to go to and from any position.

its not ideal but its only a napkin :)

this way you could select which contact points of the rotary switch actual sent back an input, this way the 5 options could be placed in the correct positions as per the panel label.

hope that makes some sense to you, i know what i mean :)

great effort triggerhappy69, most impressive, make mine look ordinary :D

i though those panels were real, top job.

Nice job, Trigga.

Would you mind posting a direct link to where you bought the hat switches? The two places that I found some were too expensive. One place quoted $190 for ONE hat switch.

thanks

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

If you're lucky you can get 4-way-switches of this kind but I never saw 5-way-switches to buy...

I didn't get you with Skype. This is what I wanted explain to you:

Coustom5-way-switchKopie.jpg

I made two of them maybe 3 years ago.I used them on a Textile printing machine with 5 print stations ( similar to one in this picture with 10 print stations)

synchroprint_e_type.jpg

to control my own added gadgets like extra cooling and heating I don't have them any more and I never took pictures of them, so I decided to make a quick photoshop drawing.

They worked very reliable.

I'm glad that you can handle it .

I had screw with a magnet in the head (about 5mm in diameter). Some furniture uses them for closing doors. But putting a magnet on the head of the switch will do the same and you only have to use one.

At the top I also putted a little pentagram round the shaft. So you will always find the right position.

That should be a four-position switch - Up, Left, Lower Left, Lower Right. There is no Down position. The switch to the left should be a three position - Up, Center, Down.

Yes! EvilBivol-1 is right! Now I checked it also out. ...silly me:doh:

Anyway, ... now you are able to put the positions of the singel triggers of the switch wherever you want.
