DCS WWII: Europe 1944

Recommended Posts

Somewhere along the line the games started calling themselves Simulations and no one has done anything about it.

Companies often refer to their products as 'new & improved' without any significant evidence of either, excepting the label on the package.

However, I don't lose any sleep over it. :)

Btw, regardless of any flaws, I own every single piece of ROF, consider it some of the best 'entertainment' on my computer and think that it is worth every penny.

Hopefully will see an announcement by the time I get up!

September 1st is supposed to be our "hint" (if I read it right) about why this is such an important date for the announcement. Anyone else think the sim might be starting where the war started (hence the hinted importance of the date)?

I'm guessing (and hoping for) early war and (if this does prove successful) we get every theater / plane, chronologically, as the war went on to the end.

Hopefully we'll find out soon :D

"On September 1, 1939, at 0448 local time, Germany began its invasion of Poland, starting World War II; the Schleswig-Holstein suddenly opened broadside salvo fire on the Polish garrison held by 182 soldiers and 27 civilian reservists." (Operation Westerplatte)

Well he certainly stated, more information will be announced on Sept 1 - not before, and not after.

Be sure....

You seem to enjoy putting words in my mouth.

What I very specifically said is that I PREFER development focus on gameplay elements like Dynamic Campaigns, weather simulation, advanced rendering techniques and more, as opposed to spending that dev time simulating minute detail that, as mentioned, has a diminishing level of return the deeper you go.

Obviously I'm on the DCS forum so I must enjoy the complex study-sim model too..

I also said it's not MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE (see Falcon 4..). It's just my preference. It doesn't make a sim like RoF, IL-2 any less of a sim. The focus is just in a differnet place.

It's actually possible IMO.

The devs who create dll for AFM are generally not the same as the devs who create, tune and bench graphic engine for instance, and those are not the graphists who model the artwork of the aircraft.

So, parallel development is theoretically possible, isn't it?

For example, you personally are occupied with the design/texture/... of the mig-21bis art (among other aircraft I 'd guess) but AFM dll is for an other person, isn't it?

But I'm OK with you that some improvement are to be done in the code of DCS itself. EDGE is to come, dynamic campaign is a far dream and the 'gameplay', or what happen during missions is up to the missions designers.

unfortunately, more than a month ago Luthier did not type anything here in this forum nor in forum of sukhoi.ru :(

Normal, is sulerly coding as hell thinking "I've said Sept 1st; what have I done, OMG, OMG, NO rest for the team until we have something to share for Sept 1st!!!"

Well Luthier did not say what year September 1st, truth to be told. I mean, let's not be mean :P...

LOL, somehow that would probably not surprise me!

I was anxious earlier today, checking every few minutes - now, not so much, will just check in occasionally...

They have to put out some sort of announcement today. If you explicitly state a date and then maintain total radio silence until then you really have to post something no matter what or it sends out a bad signal that the same problems as before are still present. First impressions count.
