KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions

Could someone please confirm for me whether or not Bigfoots training missions are now included in the KA50 module or not. I thought I read that they were. However if not, where can I get them from as the download page does not exist.

Thanks

PJ

Sorry about that. I have updated the links in the first post of this thread. The links got broken after the last site upgrade.

After days of frustration I finally found the link to the Ka-50 interactive missions and was so happy!!! I downloaded them and put them in my training folder (C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Ka-50\Missions\EN\Training\BS2_Weapon Employment_Training) but my game does not recognize them. The downloaded missions have a file extetion: .ogg rather than .miz. I also have several missions that came with my original download that have a .ogv extension and these missions also do not show up for me to select. What am I missing here? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am not sure what you found/downloaded, but ogg files are sound files (I don't recall what ogv is). In any case, neither of the files are missions, which would have a .miz extension.

Now if you download miz files and your browser changed them to zip (which does seem to happen to some people), then you should not unzip them but rename them to .miz. Missions are really zip archives but should not be unpacked in order to be used by the sim. In this case the ogg and ogv files are part of the mission itself.

@ cichlidfan, thanks, problem solved! My browser zipped the download and I extracted to the training folder. I guess the sound files were what 7-zip recognized to extract. I deleted the extracted files, renamed the download to .miz and am good to go.

Massive debt of gratitude to BigfootMSR for making and offering these missions to the community; I only wish I had found them sooner.

I have updated the first thread with this update as well...

I have uploaded the Menu integration pack that contains all the missions again. It features new voice overs for the ABRIS tutorials that are more clear and some updated information. I have not updated the individual mission links. Yet. I am also currently working on a fix for the datalink, and weapon engagement missions that start in the air so you don't crash right after starting it. These two missions will also feature updated information and re-recorded voice overs.

BigfootMSR, your A-10C training mission link is broken, is this mission still available somewhere? Cheers!

Sorry about that, I updated all the other links for my missions when they updated the site and I missed the one in my signature.

You can find it here :http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/99424/

I have downloaded the PeterP's main menu integration, and followed all in the read me...but still unable to get the training missions appear ingame

The files are .miz, i renamed the old Ka-50 training folder, i gave the right path from my JSGME ---> nothing to see ingame! (my others mods are working fine though)

:helpsmilie:

EDIT: ok, it works when i copy/past the training folder directly in DCS, but doesn't work with my JSGME...something must be wrong with the path.

MANY THANKS to this mod creaters. Without, i wouldn't be able to cold start the BS! Very well done.

Really essentials fantastic tools

One little thing though, for non English natives like me...sometimes instructions are too fast, and by the time i have readed, translated and understood, texts are gone.

The speaking voice is also very fast...not easy for foreigners :D

Again thanks for this hard work.

I just checked the download and the .miz is in there. Did you try re-downloading it? Sorry for the trouble.

The individual files are older versions of the missions. I will be removing those links here soon and just leaving the one download.

I posted a comment on the main site as well, I am having a problem, I installed the mssions according to the faq. went well, shows up in properly in game. run properly too. only thing that wont work is my keyboard. the mouse works but I cant change my view and nothing else on keyboard works either. I will try a few other things in the mean time. let me know what you think! thanks for the great tutorials, I have used them in the past.

I cannot get any of the (PeterP's main menu integration) training missions to start. I believe I installed them correctly as I had to rename the original training mission directory and they appear in the training menu. The problem is that I just sit in the cockpit and I hear no voice or see any instructional text--nothing happens. I was able to work through another full startup tutorial mission okay(Ka-50_Full_Startup.miz). I saw the instructional text and the different buttons got highlighted. However, there was no voice for this mission.

Any ideas on how to fix this or what the problem is? Is there a way to view a log anywhere to see if there are some error messages?

EDIT: I have found a workaround. If I access the the training mission through the Missions function in BS2 and load up the Mission Planner first before starting the mission then the mission starts correctly. If I do not load the mission into the Mission Planner first then the mission does not start. If you access the missions through the Training menu then you do not have access to the Mission Planner.

JasonMVT, Sadly im not sure what would be causing the keyboard to not respond. The only thing I could really suggest would be to delete your keyboard.lua from your dcs world folder in your documents. Once its deleted, the game will generate a new clean one.

Limbo696, I have not seen or heard of this issue before. What version of the game are you running? I tried it in the latest release and they are working as they should. Also, is it all of the missions? or just 1?

I'm running v1.1.1.1 of Black Shark 2 and this problem is probably related to an installation/mod issue. I have two monitors with one showing the ABRIS and the Shkval display. I was able to work through the first four mission after loading the Mission Planner but the first weapon training mission hangs when I try to load the Mission Planner first. Edit: Loading the first weapons mission into the mission editor and trying to save it fails due to the player aircraft and vehicle "MT1" not being valid objects.

I have considered just updating BS2 to run under DCS World but I'm wary of losing all of my keyboard bindings and screen setup stuff. Do you know if the latest versions of BS2 (v1.2.x) have any significant improvements over v1.1.1.1? I really need to update my computer rig soon because my current system specs really do not cut it for DCS sims due primarily to lack of CPU power.

Ah, that is the issue then. The missions have been saved in the newer format and not advisable to run in 1.1.1.1.

I would strongly encourage you to upgrade your BS2 to the DCS world install. The game has come a LONG way from 1.1.1.1. with lots of improvements and features. You will loose your settings files, but with a little patience, you can rebuild em and these folks here on this forum can help ya do that.

As for the CPU requirements I haven't looked in a while, but I am sure World is going to be a bit more CPU intensive than 1.1.1.1.

Also keep in mind that 1.1.1.1 is no longer supported so you will never receive an update up for it. Where as the one in world will constantly be updated as required. Plus there is an auto updater to allow for smaller patches to be delivered and do repairs on your installation without the need to download ALL of the game files every time. You can also leave your 1.1.1.1 install on your computer if you have room and install DCS World to give her a spin. It will not affect your standalone install at all. If you don't like it, or cant run it, you can always delete it.

Hope it helps!

OKay, thanks for helping me out. It's nice to know that I can make a separate installation of DCS World. (The official install instructions indicate that you should uninstall any previous versions of the game.) The time has probably come for me to bite the bullet and get one of those fast Intel processors which is sort of hard for me to justify given that my computer runs perfectly fine for everything except for these war simulations that do not have optimal programming (i.e., not fully multi-threaded, not making use of the graphics card to do physics calculations like Battlefield 4, etc.).

I can understand that. Keep in mind too that the new rendering system "EDGE" will be implemented here in the new future wich will hopefully rectify some of that issue. Im glad you got things sorted though :)
