MBot
I wouldn't read into that. I suspect they're just backgrounds. The pictures are 3d model renders. I would be very surprised if they are not LS's own models. And they have already hinted previously that they have licensed rights for a Grumman cat. I think it is as good as confirmed that LS goes WWII Pacific.

ED Team NineLine Posted May 1, 2014 ED Team Share Posted May 1, 2014 I have to partially agree... I would hate to see the market get overly saturated with WWII era modules, and this is coming from a WWII guy... I am hoping LN leads the charge on the era surrounding the 21. But right now, they are just backgrounds.... Rudel and others on the team could have tons of models in the works, that doesnt mean they will be modules... I hope not... I can get behind this as well, the release of the MiG-21bis will open a massive gap for a opponent (like the F-4 or even the F-8 ) that will really need to be filled, hopefully Leatherneck sticks in the 60's and 70's era cold war aircraft for a bit, it is a good era for flight simulation to cover anyway. RRG is the only one doing WWII 100%. VEAO has stated they have two teams, one working on modern aircraft and the other doing WWII (thus releasing WWII birds does nothing to slow down the modern planes they produce, only the complexity of developing the modern birds). There is no confirmation by LN that they are currently producing WWII planes after the 21, we are merely speculating right now. Like Sith, even though I'm a WWII buff I still agree somewhat with your sentiment and I don't want to see an over saturation of WWII planes. But keep in mind that the WWII birds are quicker to produce, thus giving more funds towards the modern jets which take longer. As much time as it takes for a company to produce a modern jet, I seriously doubt any 3rd party can remain afloat without getting funds in other ways (IE easier to produce aircraft to fund the longer term projects). So the question becomes this - do you want one or two modern jets and then the company to close shop and produce nothing else because they couldn't remain profitable, or would you rather said company be able to continue producing modern jets but also spitting out some older aircraft as well? ED Team NineLine Posted May 1, 2014 ED Team Share Posted May 1, 2014 We are totally dragging this thread off topic with assumptions, but I want to add this. While some aspects of WWII aircraft may be easier to do, the fact remains that flying them, as proven by the P-51D, isnt really one of them so mastering a high fidelity WWII fighter can take some work, now ask you customer base to buy 20 of them? Anyways, I will be happy with whatever they do... but for the love of all things holy... someone do an F-16 already!!! :) RRG is the only one doing WWII 100%. Silver_Dragon
VEAO work with 3 Teams... 2 on modern era and 1 on WW2 era (and surely more teams join to them when start the tanker project). http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2049169&postcount=100 I expected if LN confirm your WW2 project work on a similar scheme (1 or more teams on Vietnam era and 1 or more on WW2), meanwhile, I expected the "CV-6" render will confirm to a new carrier on WW2.
