I can believe the first thing, but I don't believe this. It must be joke. Its very simplified in this video but the Typhoon has both. Iam not sure how the first one is used, but the second one is the IRIS-T missile or AIM2000 it has LOAL/Datalink ability and is extremely manouverable. Its designed to attack targets in a 360 deg sphere around the Aicraft. In the Typhoon it has also the ability to engage incoming missiles to protect the EF Typhoon as hardkill target, via the Pretorian EuroDASS. From Launch to Lock on the missile with the 90deg searcher of the IRIS-T to a target BEHIND the Aicraft it takes 0.5 seconds. There is also a good comparsion i did read. If the AIM9-L needs a Watermelon to do a 360 deg turn, the R-73 AA-11 needs an Apple and the IRIS-T needs a Plum. BUT BTT :) Edited February 19, 2015 by Isegrim "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom Link to comment
