Hugh's PVC/hardwood build

I'm building a home cockpit out of PVC and hardwood. After a trip to my local hardware store, I noted that there is little difference in flex between 50mm and 40mm PVC pipe, at lengths of 1 meter (which is greater than any of my individual segments). Is there any reason to go with 50mm, or would 40mm be sufficient? I've modelled a rough design of the basic frame below.

You'll be fine with the 40mm. Use screws at the joints instead of glue so you can change it or update it at a later date.

Here's my first PVC simulator from 2012
