Gentlemen,

I applaud your efforts and look forward to hopefully contributing in whatever way I can.

If you need a Professional Project Manager and Systems Enginner/Software guy on the case anywhere then let me know and I'd be happy to contribute even if its just to help out on the boring back end stuff.

Other than that I wish you all the luck in the world and anyone who bemoans there being even more useful information on the internet for those of us who like to tinker, play, contribute and not necessarily make a living out of it may well have an ulterior motive I think - no offence to anyone in particular.

This is after all a Flight Simulator Community with a capital C IMHO.

Much appreciated. Feel free to be part of it, we really want others to contribute, we're just facilitating the oppurtunity

Hi guys, first post, so hello and all that. This thread immediately caught my attention because I'm just starting to catch the cockpit building bug and have spent ages digging through posts trying to figure out how to get up and running properly. But it really is a nightmare trying to figure out what's relevant, so I've started documenting things as I'm going along. I've attached an early draft of a document I started writing about trying to interface LabVIEW with DCS-A10C, but I decided to document some basic details about the Export.lua file as well. At the moment this draft just has some info on how to set up the Export.lua file to write to the Export.log file (nothing about UDP/TCP or LabVIEW itself), but my question is: is this the type of material you're looking for in terms of the wiki? If it is I can probably add it in easily enough (I hope - never edited a wiki before!), and maybe add in other stuff as I'm going along as well? Just bear in mind I'm a complete newbie to this game so others will probably have a lot more to offer.

Edit: This draft version is messy so I tidied it up and re-posted here. Now it just concentrates on writing to file, and there are no references to LabVIEW which is a different topic entirely!

Thanks for the offer, TigersharkBAS. I decided to tidy up that document and re-post on the main forum. Next I'll see how I get on with adding the info to the wiki. I'll be in touch if I need any help!

Thank you Derek. That was an excellent read. I took the liberty of doing a bit of a proof read on it and had a couple of comments that I marked up in a copy of the PDF. Take a look and if you feel that you could address them that would be great. I think you may have already picked up a couple on your rewrite however others were just about expanding on a few points to help understanding from a novices perspective...(like me):smilewink:.

But I was actually able to understand almost everything you were talking about... I thinks that actually scares me bit.

Great work Derek. Looking forward to reading some more tutorials by you.

Thanks very much for the feedback and taking the time to proof-read this, Warhog. I've decided to add some more in-depth descriptions of the code, and posted the updated document in the main forum. Hopefully there's not *too* much info in there now, may be more confusing.

Tigershark, Thanks also for your PM. I'll get back to adding the content to the wiki over the next few days, but some Sunday night beers are calling now!

This week in wiki:

- We have a help page up that teaches you how to edit

- DerekM contributed his article on exporting data via export.lua

- We have smal articles on Pots, Rotary Encoders, military standard.

-DevonCustard continues to refine his Arduino tutorial.

-The Panels section has a lot of stubs for panels but the Elec Power panel is close to be completed.

- We have a stub for Light Panels (a discussion on the real world thing and how to make something similar in your own panel)

- We also have a suppliers page up and running for ideas on where to get parts.

We have 119 pages and 485 edits since we launched. Momentum is growing but we still need your help to contribute.

The new help page should be enough to get you going if you want to dive in.

Unfortunately, due to repeated spamming of ALL kinds of bullshit I have had to remove anonymous edit access. To edit you have to sign up for an account. I really wanted to keep it open but once again the Internet has proven why we can't have nice stuff.

Can you explain what the issue is? I have complained already to the host but they blamed my DNS. But if it's a wider issue I will contact them again.
