Expanded Missile Inventory for Flaming Cliffs 3 (AIM-9X, Phoenix, R-77)

So, I created a simple mod by playing around with the .lua files. It adds the AIM-9X and AIM-54C to the F-15C and the R-77 to the Su-27 & Su-33.

 

Tested with DCS 1.2.16

Known issues:

 

  • The F-15C doesn't properly recognize the AIM-54C or the AIM-9X. On the MFD, instead of their names, it shows "Unknown".
  • The FCR and HUD don't display any aiming cues for the AIM-54C. You have to lock the target normally, press the Launch Permission Override key (default: LAlt+W) and fire.

Expanded Missile Inventory v1 (AIM-9X, Phoenix, R-77)

 

Adds the following missiles:

 

F-15C: AIM-9X, AIM-54C

Su-27 & Su-33: R-77

 

Tested with DCS 1.2.16

 

AIM-54C can be used in TWS with multiple targets. The FCR and HUD don't display any aiming cues for the AIM-54C. You have to lock the target(s) normally, press the Launch Permission Override key (default: LAlt+W) and fire.

 

Installation

With JSGME

or simply put the Scripts folder in the DCS installation folder and overwrite.

Nice work but you shouldn't have published it, cause it isn't much fun if everyone flys with aim54 and other stuff around

 

 

Why? You dont have to use it and severs run integrity checks so nobody can join with mod weapons.

I know it breaks the game, but if someone wants to play fair, they simply won't use it. It's just for fun.

I wanted to see IF I could change the loadouts and since I did, I just released it for other people that might be interested.

I also made a file that lets you load the AIM-54 on the central fuel pylon only. So you have only 1 AIM-54 and you have to sacrifice a fuel tank.

 

The whole process of modifying a loadout is very simple. If this receives enough positive feedback (which means that people want/like it), I'll post a tutorial on how to do it.

This is actually one of the very simple things to do in game. I do quite like the R-77 on the Flanker as it is fairly plausible and changes its matchup with the F-15. I really hope DCS gets an ARH Flanker at some point.

 

As for the AIM-54, it's actually sort of wonky with SFM. It barely bleeds energy, but it turns so poorly that you can over g it by pulling 8 or more g in your aircraft.

Tutorial

 

!! As stated before, these changes break the fidelity of the gameplay and can make it very easy.

The point (for me at least) is to become a better pilot by understanding the limitations of the aircraft and working with them, not bypassing them.

This mod is just for fun and experimentation !!

 

!! I recommend using JSGME or making backups of the original files!!

 

So, down to business. As Exorcet mentioned, it's very simple.

 

Go to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts\Database\planes

 

and find the .lua file of the plane you want to edit, e.g. F-15C.lua.

 

Inside, after the chaff, flare (you can alter these too), radar etc, you'll get to a point where you see a line starting with pylon(etc....) and after that, a series of codes that represent the weapons that the specific pylon can load. The number of the pylon is the same as in the loadout screen in-game.

 

Depending on the aircraft model and pylon, these CLSID codes might be accompanied with some additional arguments. In the case of the F-15C, the wing pylons have the arguement

,arg_increment = -0.1

. Just see if the other weapons have and copy it.

 

All you have to do is to find the CLSID of the weapon you want to add, place it alongside the other weapons and place the argument after this.

For the AIM-9X on the F-15C, the CLSID is "{5CE2FF2A-645A-4197-B48D-8720AC69394F}" and the whole line would be

[code]{ CLSID = "{5CE2FF2A-645A-4197-B48D-8720AC69394F}" ,arg_increment = -0.1},

AIM-54C: "{7575BA0B-7294-4844-857B-031A144B2595}"

R-77: "{B4C01D60-A8A3-4237-BD72-CA7655BC0FE9}"

 

As for the rest CLSIDs, you can find them in the .lua files of the aircraft that normally carry the munition.

you can fly the f16, etc and use these weapons, using su25t cockpit with sead weapons etc. some MFDs with the weapons seem not complete... maybe WIP ?

Not had a chance to look at the tutorial in deep yet, so can I request a MiG-21Bis capable of carrying Mtara Magic II missiles?

I don't own the MiG-21bis module, so I don't have the .lua file. If you want, upload it and I'll give it a shot.

is there a way to match which weapon goes with which CLSID code? some sort of table or location the file system that matches them up?

 

also, do certain systems need to be present on the aircraft for certain missiles/bombs to be able to work?

 

for instance, i put the KH-31P missile on the Su-25t, and couldn't get it to launch at a ship.
