expected overlays has something similar to them:

Bastogne+Corridor2.jpg

That would be cool! Adding additional information to the map - information that is not technically related to the aircraft or units in the mission, but to provide means for using the map for a proper mission briefing.

Stuff like adding text, lines, arrows, circles, etc.

What are mission editor overlays?

Most likely referring to representation of roads, buildings, towns, elevation lines, etc.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

We have waited this long, whats a few more months? Things are coming through the pipeline at quite a clip compared to how it used to be. I for one am optimistic that we will see EDGE this year. Maybe not NTTR as that seems to be taking a lot of man hours (all of those listed problems are something that needs to be addressed manually one object/texture/effect at a time) but they have integrated the map into EDGE and we have already seen a lot of screenshots (and even some videos) of EDGE in action with the old map so there is no real reason to be pessimistic unless that's kind of your thing. If we had no screenshots/videos I would be worried but thats clearly not the case.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Exactly, we've waited what 3 to 4 years a few more months won't kill anyone.

And what we heard from Wags and devs the important goal is: they want to do it right! Reduce bugs and issues, integrate fixes for known issues, balance performance, prepare a STABLE basis for future improvement and so on. Just to name a few, dedicated server, 3D preview in Mission Editor, no separate launcher/SIM anymore...

It takes some mighty bollocks to rip apart a working product and commit to such a huge project, not knowing in advance if financially viable.

Kudos to ED for doing it anyway. Can't wait to see the results... I envy the testers.

Gotta say this update sounds like a precursor to further delays. Feels like a never ending road this EDGE/DCS 2.0/New Map production. Won't be holding my breath we'll get it any time soon.

2.0 isnt dependant on the new map, we could very well see 2.0 without NTTR initially...

Shadows and colors are not needed for the old maps? Hmm? I must think about this again. :smoke:

The new map is completely different than the old map, the new map is the first of its kind, the fact that they need to tweak the colours based on how it looks in the sim only makes sense. Its the first time the newly created map made with newly created tools have seen the game Engine... its reasonable to understand that tweaks will be needed... any reasonable person could see that.

Not dealing with reasonable people unfortunately.

I'm very happy that the colors are being tweaked in Nevada, bring on that dirty dry looking climate. Good job guys !!! Even the current map looks way more epic in edge due to the graphical advancements. As one who plays with allot of mods making minor changes in graphics goes a long way in a map you know like the back of your hand.

I salute Wags in giving updates and I think that is the courteous standard that should be upheld. You have die hard fans and supporters of this sim for many years, some including myself have gotten frustrated and lost hope at times but it's very good and reassuring to hear from you guys. I wish their was weekly dev blogs because following the advancements and dealings with technology is half the fun !
