gregzagk
Operation ''Caucasus Blizzard AAR'' Dear DCS v.Squadrons and Lonewolfs. The reason of this post is to provide information about the Operation ''Caucasus Blizzard'', a PvP Campaign for DCS that ended just yesterday. The consensus was that it was a successful dynamic campaign with a lot of new features and a lot of intensive moments for the participants. With the experience gained, we will move forward to our next campaign which will be announced in a new post soon. So stay tuned! *You can watch the Promo video in the end of this post. Caucasus Blizzard Version 1 : March 2014 -May 2014 (373vFS vs IAF ) Caucasus Blizzard Version 2 : May 2014 – July 2014 (373vFS/NOB/UVP/223rd vs IAF/Anon6/UOAF) For more than a year now my squadron (373vFS) along with IAF, organized cooperative and team vs team missions. These events helped our squadrons grow and train better. On March we launched our first PvP campaign called ''Caucasus Blizzard'' (373vFS vs IAF) with features that were tested for the 1st time (save mission status, online planner, CSAR, Capturing zones scripts etc). This helped us move on to the second version of the campaign, which was bigger with more squadrons participating and new features showing up. Anon6 supported the campaign by setting their website in order to provide awards and better organizing tools for the 2 sides. BigGinger put a lot of work on this by setting awards and mission planning rooms .You can check here http://www.anon6.com/ . Features of Caucasus Blizzard Campaign: -One mission each week (2 hours). -Saving the status of the campaign after each mission. (Thanks to Xcom's script and [FSF]Ian's Online mission Planner). -40 players online in each mission. -Ground Commanders for both sides. -Transport script (thanks to geloxo). -CSAR script – When a pilot ejects the slot deactivates until he is rescued (thanks to Baron's CSAR Script). -Online mission planner for editing waypoints and organizing the missions (thanks to Online Mission planner by [FSF]Ian). -Reinforcement system after each mission. -Statistics for the coalitions and pilots after each mission (Thanks to Xcom's scripts and webpage -http://89.163.173.82/DCS/Default.html ). -Medals and awards for pilots based on their performance (Thanks to Anon6's website http://www.anon6.com and especially BigGinger for setting all this up). Caucasus Blizzard Version 1 Statistics. The statistics script was released at the 5th mission of the campaign, so there are only stats after this mission. 373vFS managed to win this campaign but both sides were really close! We were now ready to launch Version 2. Mission 6 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/LOCAL/Stat_07_05.php Mission 7 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/LOCAL/Stat_Mission7_15_05.php Mission 8 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/LOCAL/Stat_Mission8_22_05.php Caucasus Blizzard Version 2 Statistics. Blue side won! In the second version of the campaign the participants were more numerous and the results were really interesting! After 8 missions of tough fights, the Blue side won by owning 1 more objective zone due to the fact that there were not enough Red units inside to hold it. The number of kills and losses that each side suffered during the campaign were really close! You can check it in the Total statistics link that is provided below: Mission 1 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_12_05.php Mission 2 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_18_05.php Mission 3 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_25_05.php Mission 4 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_01_06.php Mission 5 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_15_06.php Mission 6 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_22_06.php Mission 7 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_06_07.php Mission 8 : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/Stat_INT_20_07.php Total Statistics : http://89.163.173.82/DCS/INT/International.php Videos-Pictures of the operation Ground Commander Talos preparing for his mission IAF_Schix in his F-15C MORE F-15C ACTION... Crash_Horror
:D The complexity and fluidity you get when you fly with 40+ people absolutely kicks your butt. I flew the A-10 throughout the two campaigns. Trying to navigate, manage systems, weapons, targeting, coordinate with wingmen, maintain some semblance to situational awareness, while on average five people constantly scream at you at the same time as you try to dodge that evil F-15 that won't stop beeping at you, is just ridiculous! Not to mention the typing of coordinates, TGP slew fiddle amongst non stop missile warnings and fox/rifle calls. And then the Ground commander mistakes you as a fighter and sends you to take out that F-15 again, that is getting close and mean, oh and just go through the other two enemy A-10s on your way there. And you have to do it right? Not that you will succeed. You can't complain though can you! Like having a B role in an 80's horror film that seems to have no end. Seriously though, awesome fun. Can't wait for the next one! Edited July 23, 2014 by Crash_Horror [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://buddyspike.net/
Stratos
Amazing guys! Hope one day I will be able to join such campaigns. Can you imagine a Su-27 with IAF cool pàint scheme? That would be really amazing!! I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Habu23
This was absolutely an amazing campaign. There was never a dull moment and with the added dimension of PVP, at any time you could be the hunter or the hunted. It demonstrated that with enough ingenuity and creativity the DCS environment could be dynamic. The flight planner application that allowed squadron leaders to create custom steerpoint positions that could be uploaded to the data cartridges of the various aircraft was most impressive. Spanker79
Amazing guys! Hope one day I will be able to join such campaigns. Can you imagine a Su-27 with IAF cool pàint scheme? Cruiser18
Was great fun to fly the campaign. My poor KA-50 had some hairy moments dodging hailstorms from the SU-27's until our F15's could chase them away. Will definitely be back for the next campaign as well ;)
