DCS 1.5 FPS?

Recommended Posts

Ok so I have a interesting question is anyone getting serious drops in FPS on ejection and or Camera views. In cockpit I'm seeing 125+ FPS. Now I eject or change camera View and boom FPS drops to 40 or less.

I think that there is an FPS problem with the Depth of field option outside of the cockpit.

That's what people are saying I haven't actually tried it.

One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales...

Now that DCS 1.5 is out I'm having thoughts about how insane the graphics would be with the new FURYX or a crossfired dual FURYX

Msaa is required now for edge rendering?

Yes, I get about 115fps in the pit, and 30 in external views.

Though my SLI isn't doing much of anything... Turning off DOF completely fixed any FPS issue I had looking around outside.

In a cockpit I'd get 120 - 130 FPS. Outside around 26 - 30 with DOF on. With it off I hold 80 FPS steady, With everything maxed as far as I can tell on a GTX 680.

One card is 99% used other is 3% used lol. I'm not really complaining. Aslong as I can max things out with the one card. However that DOF does look neat.

It's clear that it's easy to max out the settings and still have great framerate with much lesser cards, so there's no point in having a Fury X unless you run it at ridiculously high resolution.

considering sli and crossfire dont work currently id stick with a single one

It does apparently work but you have to put the sim into exclusive fullscreen mode. It defaults to borderless window mode. Hit Lalt + Enter when you are inside the sim to make it fullscreen.

It does with the right MB, because the bridge is thru the MB not a crossfire cable.

What's your msaa settings, and are you using DOF?

I turned on msaa to 4x and fps dropped to 75fps in highly populated areas on pit views and 60 on external views with DOF off.

For me FPS killer is clearly trees shadows. I've tried different settings and there's a difference between High, Med and Low, but anyway just getting close or zooming at any forest kills the FPS to 10 - 15 from 40-60 (V sync ON). I can forget about everything else in High/Ultra, but shadows. Otherwise far better overall FPS and smoothness than old engine.

Forests without shadows for FPS gain, extract all files to

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Terrain\Structures\High\EDM

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rempmjkvolv8k9n/No%20shadows%20trees%20EDGE.rar?dl=0

You cannot just shut off tree shadows mustang?

I have R9 280x toxic, and i overclock it, even if i make medium settings without msaa i have bad fps.. is that because its just beta?

I'm not having those issues and I have 2x R9 270x. Even crossfire disabled. But I mainly run enabled. Same results.

Card settings

Both cards sent to below:

overclocked 1120 MHz, 1400 MHz RAM overclock

In game settings

msaa 4x, Anisotropic filter level 16x, settings on high, heat bluer off, DOF off, water medium, both shadows off, trees at 4000, pit 512, HDR on, lens dirt+flare, preload radius 12,000: 70 FPS in pit.

3-D application settings in catalyst control Center:

AA mode: override

AA samples: 12x

Filter: edge

AA method: super

Morphological filtering: on

texture filter

Anisotropic filter: app settings

Anisotropic filter Level: app settings

Texture filtering quality: on

Surface format optimization: on

Frame rate control

Wait for vertical refresh: on

OpenGL: on

Tessellation

Tessellation mode: AMD optimized

Maximum tessellation level: AMD optimized

Crossfire

Frame pacing: on

AMD crossfire mode: default

With those settings I'm able to get 70 FPS in A-10C, F-15-C, BS, HUEY.

Sorry guys, maybe I've missed it, but is there an option to turn the tree shadows off or I have to dig into some config file? Thank You. I have Intel i5, 8GB RAM, GTX 660 2GB and running it on SSD and the framerates are too unstable. It's playable, but I don't want to imagine it in some campaign scenarios with a lot of aircraft, explosions etc. Thank You.
