Release??

Sorry guys, I just have the magazine, got it yesterday.

They say that they are on track to release it in June. They have very detailed model, avionics, weapons, FM, DM, all to highest DCS standarts. Interactive training lessons, as well as 30 mission campaign are included. They also mention that they plan to develop not only an aircraft for DCS, but other units for the "cold-war" era, after initial release. They also have MiG-23 in plans, but it will not be their next plane, also it will not be a Phantom (they say it's too complicated yet), so which one it would be is still unclear.

Ah - and they mentioned that MiG-21 package will include working nuclear bomb! :D

Ahh nice follow up there sir! It will be interesting to see what aircraft is next, but we now know that we can scratch off 2 of them as the next. :)

Is there any indication of when the interview occurred and who they spoke to?

They should not have done that :devil_2:. Between assisted take-off rockets and now a nuke, I now have fantastic ways of royally f'ing up. I probably won't learn how to even turn on the radar for A2A engagements for awhile because I'll either be barrel rolling down the runway after twitching the pedals on rocket assist takeoff, or blowing my MiG up with a nuke trying to lob the thing.

I don't want to guess what your frame rates will be when a nuke goes off.

Hey guys I have a question: could we ask not LN team regarding the progress integration but ED Team, we never heard anything from them, maybe they could also give us their very brief update on WIP, comments or suggestions?

Doubtful ED will comment on a 3rd Parties release.

And I have just learned that there will be no 1.2.9 update, the next update is 1.3.0, will this have any influence on Mig release?

Source, and link please.

EDIT: ED isn't telling us how EDGE intergration/testing is going so I doubt they will speak about another company's product.

Since I don't know what that person's actual position within ED is, I can only take that with a limited amount of veracity.

EDIT: Either way, what difference does it make what semi-random number they assign to the next released version?

ED is only working on one aircraft and it is so far away that any delay will not be detectable by a customer.

I guess you are right, but they are talking about DCSWW2 interfering with other projects, ED has a lot stuff to do : EDGE, F-18C, DCS world updates, integration and testing of all upcoming modules Mig-21, Sabre, Hawk, Dora, and anything that is coming.

Wags has clearly said in the DCS WWII section that any delays caused by the added work will be minimal as they acquired a number of the RRG people.

And in their discussion they are mentioning about huge impact of DCSWW2 on ED , that will delay release of modern aircrafts, I don’t know if it is true or not, but I guess a lot of people on Russian side of the forum are aware of this , that is what I was afraid of , but I guess this are just rumors, not an official position, BTW F-86 will not be a final product, it will be Beta . let’s hope there will be no impact on Mig-21 release.

I don’t know, my guess is just timeframe it will take twice longer time to get 1.3.0. But it is just my guess.

I guess you are right, but they are talking about DCSWW2 interfering with other projects, ED has a lot stuff to do : EDGE, F-18C, DCS world updates, integration and testing of all upcoming modules Mig-21, Sabre, Hawk, Dora, and anything that is coming.

Not not tryin' to pick on you (as you mentioned before), you just seem to be hung up on speculating about things,

A. None of this has to do with MIG-21

B. it was already stated the WWII Airframes will have minimal if any impact on other projects, as assets and former RRG team members are now part of ED.

C. F-86 will be released in Open Beta/PrePurchase, Just like everything else thus far has, nothing new.

D. As stated, B and C have nothing to do with Leatherneck Simulations.

Unless you're saying that there's some type of delay in Integration certification or something... I dunno. But I seriously doubt that to be the case, and you also have no reason to make such an assumption.

This is the reason why similar threads for other projects have been locked, everyone starts to go off speculating and it just causes confusion and arguments between members of the community.

Have a Very Nice Day (it's Friday Afterall!).

Not a fan of the MiG-23 but I'll probably buy it to support Leatherneck. I'm hoping for the MLD version which should be somewhat competitive against the Flaming Cliffs 3 fighters. I believe they can mount R-77's, but that was for testing and enough data might not be available.

Agree on the hope it would be MLD which can, at least mount R-73. Though, it can't carry R-77. R-77 and R-27 is available to MiG-23-98 upgrade offer. If I'm not mistaken, only Angolan MiG's are upgraded thus.

Also, as far as I know earlier versions of MiG-23 don't have countermeasure dispensers either. (something I wonder about MiG-21 Bis too, I hope it has on option for "over the shoulder" dispensers like MLD, rather than only dispensers as a pod).

BTW F-86 will not be a final product, it will be Beta . let’s hope there will be no impact on Mig-21 release.

That's not surprising since it is a Belsimtek product, they prefer to release a beta before making it a final release later, all their modules have been like that so far. The fact it'll be a beta is normal and doesn't impact MiG-21 at all.

I guess you are right, but they are talking about DCSWW2 interfering with other projects, ED has a lot stuff to do : EDGE, F-18C, DCS world updates, integration and testing of all upcoming modules Mig-21, Sabre, Hawk, Dora, and anything that is coming.

Wags has said that while there will be an impact, it will be minimal since the RRG group is now employed by ED. Since we aren't party to ED's internal development we have no evidence to question Wags on his statement, so we will have to just wait and see.

The Dora was an ED product from the beginning so I doubt it requires the same kind of integration that MiG-21 would require. Testing modules shouldn't interfere with their internal development because the people testing the product are not the same people that do the coding and models. Integration is a different matter, but since we don't know what kind of effort that is we can only speculate how long that takes.

If they are skipping 1.2.9 and going straight to 1.3.0, that could be due to something big coming up that they wanted to start up with a version number of 1.3.0. The MiG-21 could always be pushed out in a small "hotfix" style patch, I can't imagine there is any reason why they would absolutely have to hold it until the next major update. I realize that has been the pattern of ED module releases so far, but is there anything written in stone that says they absolutely have to keep to that practice?

They have said that 1.3.0 will be EDGE release (can't remember if there was official announcement of it..). Question is will there be 1.2.9, 1.2.10, 1.2.11 etc. before then ;)

I remember each new release updated 1.2.x with new build/release (such as 1.2.x.y to 1.2.x.y+n) when there was new module added. This has the advantage of showing new aircraft as AI controlled and other players in multiplayer sessions.

it was announced in the Newsletter 2 months ago.

As for 1.2.9+, Going by what's been posted on the International sections, the assumption is there will be no 1.2.9, jumping straight to 1.3.0, if google translate translated it correctly and it was interpreted correctly,.

Because the F-86 simply looks to good in edge w/ new reflection shaders :p (not an official reason).

Also, This is the MIG-21 Forum, we can stop speculating and discussing 1.2.9/1.3.0/F-86F/EDGE/WWII etc, since it's all off-topic speculation.

Hmm, when Beczl was in the picture, he intended to do an MF, but now I wouldn't be surprised if MS is done as the radar is the same as on the 21 :)

IIRC, the MiG-21 never had such countermeasure dispensers.

Yeah, I didn't think it had either, but if I recall right, back then in the long list of available payload both podded and bolt-on type of countermeasure dispensers were listed. Not sure if it really exists for MiG or even if it exists, would it be implemented in final release.

Facing with AIM-9B or R-3S, I don't think any countermeasures would be overly necessary anyway :P but, anthing later would whole another story :D

@TooTall, if I'm not mistaken, airframe doesn't have any built-in dispensers, but they are available as a pod. What I wonder is, if there is also an option for bolt-on dispensers as seen on Su-25 or upgraded Su-17,Mig-23 & 27 types.
