Here are several new videos showing an older version of EDGE.

Note: These videos are not operating within DCS, but rather dedicated image generator stations for professional training solutions.

Thanks!

By the way, during the WWII kickstarter, some images from Corsica were shown and you referred to them as "unannounced map that is in development". Does that mean it'll appear in DCS one day, or stay as commercial product only?

And is that an Mi-17 in the vid?

In these videos, and in the actual DCS World, the sea is always calm.

Will with EDGE possible to simulate rough sea?

PS The movies with Baku looks very great.... is that city recreated "artistically" or as it is in reality?

I'd think, it comes pretty close. Perhaps not up to every house, but - similar to Vegas: detailed enough for a "representational level" (as Wags said).

Nice, I'll be sure to stop by AVIA's booth at I/ITSEC in a few weeks. :)

EDIT: Some things I noticed in those videos is the new lens flare, and some of the really shiny buildings in the terrain looked like they were actually reflecting what was around them, not an env map like we have now. Ooooooooh. :)

Is it for DCS?

No this is an early version of EDGE for commercial applications, but Wags shared it, so its safe to assume that we will be seeing something similar if not improved for DCS. But then you know what they say about assuming :)

all the videos what Matt linked to forum are only a few day old, so i guess Matt asked to AVIA to upload some eyecandies for us :)

maybe those videos were his birthday gifts to us

about that mirroring effect on the frontage of building, i think that was a pre-positioned texture on the materials of that building - mirror or specular materials

a real calculation of that mirroring/reflecting needs huge resources and can cause FPS drops imho

so i guess that was the same/similar effect what we can see reflections currently in dcsw on glass of canopies of aircrafts - we can see the pre-positioned (not real) cloud texture only in the reflection, and we can see those texture even if there are no clouds in the sky
