I need to have more to go on, if this is the same issue we need to know what you were doing at the time, what module you were in, system specs, etc... if we as testers can reproduce, then chances are the devs cant either. Its harder to determine what is going on and if it can be fixed.

Please also confirm all drivers are updated, etc.

OK, a little summary - the crashes occur:

  • Only in Multiplayer
  • On different servers
  • Never with Su-25T, sometimes with Ka-50, very often with A-10C
  • When no significant event happened. It could be in flight, when attacking or even before startup

My system specs are upper on the page. I updated graphic card drivers, what other drivers I should update?

As far as I know, when I run out of physical memory, the system should start using the page file on harddrive... It should not crash to desktop...

Well it should, but just trying to find that needle in the haystack :)

If more people were having the same issue it might point to something with DCS, but as it seems others are not having this issue I want to make sure we eliminate issues with your machine.

Alright, just did a little test - I watched the RAM usage during A-10C flight. In Single player during the Instant Mission Builder flight (lots of airborne and ground targets), I had about 80% of RAM used.

But in Multiplayer, quickly after joining the server, the amount of used RAM quickly jumped to about 90%. When I was starting up the plane, RAM usage was steadily rising to 95%, then it crashed.

So perhaps it has something to do with memory. That would explain why it didn't crashed so much with Su-25T (less complex plane).

I'm quite surprised, because 4GB of memory are in Recommended system requirements of all modules!

Ok, so now go get some graphic card with 512 MB and plenty of RAM, and try to reproduce it :smilewink:

No seriously, I would really appreciate if I knew whether I should buy more RAM or better graphic card...

So most likely it's caused by not enough RAM, not the graphic card. Maybe it's also caused by some kind of memory leak - I don't know why multiplayer missions should take much more memory than singleplayer.

ED have raised one report pointing to memory leak (even when mission is paused) and few testers could replicate it, so it might have to do with this (as you guys don't have lot of RAM its easier to fill it up)

I personally have 16GB of RAM and 3GB vRAM and on my end DCS easily used more than 3GB of system RAM... overall system RAM used while DCS running goes to 5.36GB... could be more if mission has more things in it (I saw 5.36GB while checking for this memory leak)

and by the way (which is not good news) this is not fixed yet.

No longer active in DCS...

I just noticed that everytime I run DCS Repair, it downloads 1,7 MB of something and says "Updates applied successfully". Is this normal?

I am gonna leave this open, but right now I think its going to be related to the memory leaks, and both of you being on the minimum amount of RAM required. Lets see how things go when the patch the memory leak. Feel free to keep posting here if you come up with anything new.
