Any new info?!

This is why there are so few announcements from ED and third parties. Everything is subject to change and the best laid plans don't always work out. As far as we know, it was their full intention to launch the pre-purchase before the end of the year, but it looks like it didn't work out.

If you don't make any announcements, people complain. If you do make announcements and things change, people complain. ;)

Keeping people informed is always the best policy. That's the problem with this project...

As you probably know, ED is currently preparing v.1.2.3 of DCS World. The Huey project is not planned to be included in this update. So although I have had not official sanction to say so, I think it's pretty safe to assume at this point that we will not make the release this year. "This year" was included in the announcement as we felt it was both flexible and reliable enough to be said. Well, it's not the first time such a mistake occurs and I'm sure not the last. Whatever your thoughts today, in truth we get burned no matter which way we go - if no date is mentioned at all, the forums are filled with questions (and eventually complaints) about the lack of a release date. If a release date of any kind is provided (which is normal in an official press release), it is very often missed and we are criticized for that as well. I would ask that you just keep your emotions in check and remind yourself that there has been no damage and no offense done onto you personally. There should be no reason for you to be upset or angry on our forums.

If you also remember I had said earlier that we are not able to release project media until some legal issues were resolved. We were still waiting for this as of a couple of weeks ago, hence the continuing lack of media and website content. The actual Huey model has not been significantly changed recently, with most of the work being focused on testing and tuning, adding various model, audio, visual, and damage effects. However there has been work on training missions and finalizing the manuals, which are now in a good state of completion for a beta release. If there is a delay of a few weeks, there is a good chance the beta will include a campaign, which would not have been the case with a release before end of year.

There have a been a number of new skins added, as well as new pilot models. As far as I know the Huey will be the first DCS module to include broken canopy visualization as part of the cockpit damage model. This looks quite nice and I hope we can show some screenshots of it soon.

We've added a new trigger in the ME that allows us to change the cargo weight of a unit. This way we can change the helicopter weight in real-time during the mission to simulate loading/unloading of cargo. There is not yet a sling load capability, though as I've said it is something we believe we will be able to make in the final product.

Thanks for the heads up EvilBivol, I guess it's gonna be Q1 then like the MiG-21bis. That's gonna be cool and also a bit of a pain in the behind, 2 modules released within the same time-frame. Too much fun, too little time.:D:( I'll buy them both anyways. :D

Thanks EvilBivol-1,

now my take?

as usual a delay with the new DCS update. It seem to be licensing agreement with other companies on military equipment, made by those companies that already where paid by tax dollars. Which in turn is USA Tax payer property.

It's always the best option to keep in touch with community. Otherwise people will get angry for both delay AND silence. I for one don't mind this delay, had been waiting for a decent Huey sim for ages, so just make it happen whenever You can and You have my money. Thanks.

Thanks EB, while its a pity this bird won't be ready to fly this year, have to say I'm not too surprised or disappointed, take your time do it right, and if I may be so bold, a couple of more updates to the community.

Not asking for pages, but just a sentence or two to keep us informed and less frustrated would be appreciated.

That said, Thankyou for taking the time over the holidays to provide this update for us, and fingers crossed, the legal issues will be sorted very soon. Great to hear though you are using the time to provide us even more. :)

1st day purchase.

The actual Huey model has not been significantly changed recently...

I hope ED will use their authority to make sure the products represent their real world counterparts as closely as possible. I understand that other things are more vital during the beta but we don't want some fantasy chopper in the final.

Not in DCS.

There are more things that are incorrect, that I hope were changed already, because that model we've seen some time ago. Things that you can notice first:

- UH-1D pitot tube... with UH-1H pitot tube also present.

- sensors mounts on the nose, but none on the tail

- "strela kit" is incomplete (no plate under oil cooler)

Unless this supposed to be the Georgian UH-1H+ that have the nose mounted pitot tube (no roof mounted one though), but then the Belsimtek model is missing the BLR Fast Fin and Tail Strake kits + composite blades. Aaaand the dash-703 1800shp engine, and new NVG compatible cockpit.

Thank you for the update! I don't mind the delay as nothing new in aviation industry comes on budget or on time. I always add a few months to the dates given and enjoy pleasant surprises if they come on time.

Well I'm guessing with the latest announcement regarding v1.2.3 being delayed until middle of Jan. :( http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1639242&postcount=2

Also EB, also announced earlier in this thread that the Huey, isn't planned for release with that version, the chances of us flying the Huey in January or even Febuary, dosnt look good. :(

Ah well, best things come to those who wait, and at least it will give Belsimtek a few more weeks to tweak the Huey closer to perfection.

Disappointed, yes, excited hell yes.

But on the upside, at least I now have longer to hunt uboats in my new Felixstowe. ;)

I know i am deffently looking forward to this sim. I have to agree. dispite it not coming out in this year. I am still very much excited to fly it when it is avaliable. On top of that the more time the sim is in the hands of the developers the more time they have to polish it befor the beta. I know i cant wait to start spinning around and crashing on the tarmac.

Thanks for the update EB-1!

Even if you write that it will take a little longer it`s better then no update. And you have some nice things like the broken canopy vizualisation..

What about make youre post`s sticky so anyone can quickly see the status updates?
